I broughtthis tv in 82" when first released. its an excellent 4k tv. Im an avid gamer and it has a gamer mode that is excellent. I am currently running an xbox series x and Sony playstation 5 no issues at all she has a beautiful picture. The only thing missing from this set is better local dimming and q technology for those darker blacks, though the blacks on this screen are not bad at all, but with q tech they are noticeably darker which makes everything pop a little more but your gonna pay big bucks for that and q tech has some issues with burn in, not good if your a gamer. It does have some dirty screen but I think all led suffer that and its not noticeable with watching regular content on screen. I only see it on blank solid color screens. this is a Great price for a quality 82" cant beat that. Sony TVs are not very gamer friendly they have more lag and screen tear. Sony TVs are much more movie friendly, they excel with movie content. not to say Samsung is a slouch with movies its not. its just Sony has a smoothing tech for movies and it works.. When I did my research this Samsung had the best balance for me if you like movies and also a gamer get a Samsung if your strictly movie watcher get Sony. have fun guys.
Yes... it is absolutely native 120Hz. See RTINGS info and review below:
"The Samsung RU8000 is a decent 4k TV with good picture quality. It delivers deep uniform blacks in a dark room, but lacks a local dimming feature to further improve dark room performance. The RU8000 has good SDR peak brightness and good reflection handling. The TV has a wide color gamut, but its low HDR peak brightness can't display small highlights as they should be. The overall gray uniformity is good with just minimal dirty screen effect, but with sub-par viewing angles you have to sit straight in front to enjoy an accurate image. Motion handling is excellent (native 120Hz) with a fast response time that helps display crisp motion with minimal blur trail. The input lag is very low, and the TV supports FreeSync variable refresh rate technology to please gamers."

Even better... it's more like a 10% increase in viewing area: 86"= 3366 sq. in. area vs. 82"=3058 sq. in. area.

Motion rate 240 pretty much means 120 native. I'm going with 120

Good deal. would have gotten this if I had not gotten the LG 86" at Costco for $1449. Between a 82" and a 86" is about 5% increase in viewing area.

My main tv the Sony 900E that is a few years old still beats this new tv in every category, but this tv is a little bigger so it is tempting

Is the extra ~$800 worth the jump to the 85" Costco Sony?

Hell I'll take the 900E over pretty much everything right now 🤣. Still devastated that my 900E screen broke.

I would say yes. The biggest negative on this tv is it's edge lit.
