That's not really how it works... Size of reel should be based on technique and species of fish. If anything, the longer you plan on fishing the smaller the reel you should try to use for it being lighter and less tiring.

I agree. I use 5000 or 6000 for striped bass. But if I'm bait fishing 8000

I disagree. If you get tired of holding a fishing rig then perhaps knitting is your best way to hold a line.
