I've got one from seek, and you can totally see drafty doors. Correct, you can't see cold air, but where you have a leak, the wall/door/frame/floor near the leak get noticeably colder (or hotter, if it's summer). If there's a 10 degree difference across an external wall, you can clearly see the studs vs insulation (or lack thereof, as often happens near corners).

After a hot shower, you can even see the hot water and drain pipes through drywall, but diffused since the warmer spot on the wall is a lot wider than the pipe.

With a 5 degree difference in ambient between upstairs and downstairs, the studs in the ceiling also become pretty clear.

I just checked these on 2 Dec at 10 am EST and all are working. I did the and then checked the price in the cart.

Note: the FLIR Pro and the FLIR Pro LT have a sale price only for the micro USB unit, shipped with free USB-C adapter. Selecting the native USB-C IOS or Android unit will lose the sale price.

I do HVAC consulting and design services. I've thought about getting one of these for doing thermal analysis on piping, ductwork, and home construction issues like leaky windows etc.

Anyone else done, or doing something similar? I use an iphone, so would need something compatible.

Seek Thermal makes an iphone one. I have an android one from when Lowe's was closing them out several years ago and have yet to test it.

Our home inspector used one to make sure the radiators were up to snuff. I don't think it works nearly as well for leaky windows though, because it won't see "drafts" - only cold surfaces.

Pella says it can help even with drafty windows (https://www.pellabranch.com/blog/...ow-drafts/), as does FLIR itself (https://mygreenmontgomery.org/project/camera/), but I think it has to be REALLY drafty to be effective.

What's the difference between gen3 and the pro? Is it just the USB-c?

The IR sensor is the big difference resulting in crisp more detailed thermal images.

FLIR One Pro LT - 80x60 sensor and less thermal sensitivity
FLIR One - 80x80 sensor
FLIR One Pro - 160x120 sensor

I bought the Flir One Pro last week to help search for our lost dog since he's hiding out in bushes somewhere in the neighborhood. Sadly their 2 day shipping doesn't count during the holidays and I haven't received it yet.

The geek in me really wants this every time one of these deals comes around but I can never justify it. Of course I'll want the pro just because. Id use it once on my house and then it would sit in a drawer sadly. It looks really cool though!
