To reiterate what others have said - the Amazon subscription renewal / end dates are just the dates 12 months from now when Amazon wants to place a new order for you (basically the same concept as subscribe and save) but they do not reflect the actual subscription end date on Microsoft's end if you have extended an existing subscription.

My 365 subscription was set to end May 21, 2021, I purchased this and Activated it by logging into my existing Microsoft account and now my end date is May 21, 2022. On my Amazon subscriptions page it did say "Renews December 2, 2021" so I just hit end (same thing as canceling a subscribe and save subscription) and so now it won't place a renewal order too early. Sure it could be easier if Amazon and Microsoft actually synced up, but it doesn't.

The annoyance though is definitely if you have an active subscription from another seller - you would have to sit on this new code until the current non-Amazon / non-Microsoft subscription runs out to activate it.

The level of freak-out about this is just not warranted.

On the Microsoft side (which is the only side that counts), Microsoft just extends your existing sub tied to your MS login. I just did it. Super simple. This is the 2nd year I've done this deal. MS now shows my sub expires in Dec 2021.

On the Amazon side, just turn off auto-renew. It doesn't matter what's listed on the Amazon page. Doesn't mean anything.

I'm all for a roughly 50% off deal or whatever it is and I could actually use a sub right now, but I just don't need any more hassle in my life this year ; )...not to save $50, at least. I've been a Prime member and big Amazon fan forever (worked there for a few years even) but this is to much customer pain and confusion.

Good deal but I heard amazon would take over your subscription management so additional subscriptions bought elsewhere cannot apply to the account anymore? Is there a way to switch back to microsoft?

Does this order give a product code which is then redeemed at Microsoft.Com? Is there any expiration for the code?

Wham ! Been waiting for this as I got it last year "BUT" as I pressed Purchase I wondered if I just bought another Family 365 on top of my Family 365 from last year ? Sure enough I have 2 Subscriptions with last year's set to "Auto-Renew" in 2 days...! I turned the renewal off and hopefully this "New' purchase automatically is prepopulated .. Didn't think of this before. 😴

This is weird. So your subscription gets taken over by amazon. I managed to get 2 years and added to my existing subscription. Not sure what will happen when it's up for renewal but I have until June 2023 to figure it out...

You can stack the subscriptions. I just added 2 years to an already existing 15 month subscription that I got off the newegg deal. Just check out the renewal date under the service &subscriptions tab when you're signed into the microsoft account. I already turned off the Amazon auto-renewals.

This happened with Best Buy promo previously. People said it can be done. Found this article as well. Scroll to the last one : https://answers.microsoft.com/en-...336dfaeb63

Being in IT, I've done a similar process for business accounts. My license is through MS directly right now for the next 5 years so I have a while to test it out. I'd honestly imagine it can be done if you start through Microsoft then wish to leave. If you start with amazon then want to leave, that may not play as nicely.

I have seen many horror stories that amazon would not release the control even after you turn off auto-renew and even turn off the subscription: https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=140116214&postcount=168

This is why I am hesitated about getting in on this deal. I wouldn't want to have my account locked to amazon.

If you currently have a subscription through Amazon and canceled the auto-renewal will it still add 12 additional months or will it be 12 months from the date you activate it?

I bought two after reading on here that you could stack them with prior subscriptions.. now Amazon shows that I have two, both expiring on 12/2/21, and my prior subscription with almost 12 months left on it completely disappeared. I guess I'm going to be chatting with Amazon and/or Microsoft support for awhile...
Edit: I cancelled auto renewal on Microsoft before I started. I cancelled auto renewal in Amazon before the 2nd purchase.
Edit again: something repopulated.. my original Microsoft subscription got added to one of the Amazon subscriptions. But the two Amazon ones are still simultaneous.

update: The Exp date finally got updatef on Amazon's side, so expect some delay for this info to update.
Heads up: I was on a prepaid plan managed directly through Microsoft, checked my exp date and it was in the summer of 2021. After I added the product key from Amazon, this expire date is not longer available since it is now managed by Amazon. Amazon just says that it will end Dec 2, 2021. I am hoping that the code stacked, but won't be able to tell until after Amazon loses control of managing the sub Dec 2021?
