Bought 2 of these, both came with rusty poles Smilie -- For real though, and I paid 58 for mine.

Was easy to assemble with a rubber mallet, and they seem sturdy. At $38, considering the quality its not enough to make me buy more.

Lol. Mine was rusty too. I have another smaller, more expensive one I got from Amazon a couple years ago. This Walmart one is worse quality, for sure. The little fins or lips or whatever you call them on the pair of collars that are supposed to clamp onto the legs are very small and don't really "lock in" like the Amazon rack does, therefore they will slide down as you force the rings on the shelves down. It took me waaaaay longer to put this one together because I would have to re-do the shelves several times until I could get them to seat correctly. It was worth the $38 I paid considering it's size and availability, but not a dime more!!

Edit...looked up my old amazon order. Get this one I linked to instead of the Walmart one....

non-standard pole diameter which means you are limited in using common accessories found on amazon and other sites. you must buy the accessories that fit the diameter pole of this particular model. i made that mistake when i bought 6 of these for my basement. i kept 2 b/c they fit perfectly next to the staircase and adjacent wall in an L-shape without sticking out. but i returned the rest and got ones from costco which have the standard 1" diameter poles and a 3rd center support rail making them significantly more robust (albeit, more expensive).

another suggestion i have (well, had, before OSB tripled in price), is to take OSB and cut to size for each shelf. it makes the shelving unit more usable and assists with weight distribution

it is a mess indeed. But I just bought two of these for pickup tomorrow and the racks I bought, silver, were in fact only $38 each. A pretty good deal actually. Thanks OP. Repped.

Lol. You get what you pay for. 4.8 stars with over 12k reviews. It's much better built and easier to assemble.

Found only one near me...no option to buy on line. MIGHT be worth a stop if we have lunch near the store.
DID go after lunch and found a few units withOUT casters/wheels at the sale price. None with the wheels, however.

I've put together so many of these types of shelving units, I can't imagine having trouble with one; but your point is valid as long as folks know the size difference, both in overall height and in shelf size. Sometimes smaller fits just right!

I explained the issue in my original post. The pair of curved "wedge" pieces that fit around the legs/poles, and. that the shelves wedge themselves down onto have a thin lip on their inner side that is supposed to slip into the grooves on the legs/poles of the unit. On my better/highly rated unit from Amazon, those curved pieces really lock into the grooves. On this cheaper Walmart unit, those lips on the inner side of the curved wedges is very thin. They do line up with the grooves of the poles, but as you go to push the shelf down so it wedges itself onto those pieces, those pieces can slide down the pole. Very frustrating. Also, on my better one, when you slide the shelf onto the little curved wedges, the fit between the two was perfect. On this cheap Walmart version, one "hole" on the shelf would fit correctly on a wedge, but the others wouldn't go down enough. Therefore the shelf wouldn't be level. If you tried to force the corners of the shelf down, the shelf and the wedges would slide down the pole. Ugg!! Therefore assembling this unit is way harder to get "right". You get what you pay for.
