"JSON Programming" isn't a thing, and that phrase will get your resume instantly discarded. It's a format, not a language, and you can learn literally everything there is to learn about it in 7 minutes, not 7 days. This is a scam.

I saw that and laughed too! You can read the W3Schools section on JSON [w3schools.com] in 10 minutes and be fine.

The rest are so-so. If you want to learn Python take the CS50 class on EDX [harvard.edu]. There are also free courses from MIT [youtube.com] and other colleges on YouTube for free.

Nobody who gained knowledge from these free ebooks is going to apply for a job in programming.

The best thing you can do is start at the beginning of any universities CS courses and work through whatever books they use. Easy to find the books used in whatever course you would like to learn and teach yourself, if enrolling isn't an option. MIT has a ton of lectures, books, notes and recitations available for free for many of their courses.

The whole series this book is part of is free!

Theo Lynn and 3 more Disrupting Finance: FinTech and Strategy in the 21st Century (Palgrave Studies in Digital Business & Enabling Technologies)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0..._s_a_1_14?

Click on the series below this book and you can buy them all with one click.

I always look at the series view because quite often there is a deal on more than one of the volumes.

They turn around and put a self published 'book' on Amazon then claim on their resume they published a book on the subject.

Exactly. Open courseware is a great place to start. Boot camps aren't bad but don't expect to learn more than web development. These trash e books will never land you a job anywhere.

I think that's less the point than the fact that someone seriously titled an actual "book" JSON Programming. I bit, just to see what they were talking about.

Commenting as someone who has no background in development and had to pick it up in the past month or so (Been in IT healthcare 10 years+ but never worked in dev roles):
The best resources for me were W3Schools, just searching "javascript if" or how to use json etc.

The CS50 also linked below was a decent help but gets in the weeds often so you have to sift through a lot of their content.

Also get visual studio and extensions and play around with coding in javascript, JSON (I know this is a JS format but it still differentiates), and typescript.

Thank you for the free reading material, but PEOPLE rarely appreciate and use things that's given to them without having to WORK FOR IT. You have to get skin deep into people by charging them money for an individual to find value out of something. In the long run, this is for people whom just like to hoard free stuff and crap they really don't need.

That's not always true - some of these books might actually be useful, and you'd be surprised how often some of these freebies, albeit shorter, have some actual value within the books.

Anyone who's ever written a technical book knows they're not very profitable unless they sell a LOT of copies. I've written in a few compilation books on cybersecurity, and I can tell you that aside from the boost they give to the resume when applying for jobs, they really aren't worth much more. Between working with the editors, creating drafts, going back and forth on redlines and ultimately getting the final draft through, I probably got paid a fraction of what I'd make as a consultant in my field.

For some of these people, if they're good at what they do - a short, well written book is a good entry into more writing if not a boost for their professional career.
