The deal can be triggered when purchasing a gift card.
Do NOT use Paypal or anything other than the "Credit Card" option during checkout folks. Using any other form of checkout even funding it via the same credit card is not the same. Make sure you use the same credit card that you enrolled on your Gpay account too.
Thanks. Google Pay seems to be stepping up their game.

I didn't need anything but first/last name, street address & last 4 of SSN. Wife needed everything you just listed. She's currently waiting 48 hours for everything to be processed to confirm her account. I'm hopeful that once her account is confirmed she'll also get the $21 cash back from Target since we already bought the $50 gift card with her account.

Both accounts are WELL established so my only guess to the red flag is that we're both using the same street & IP address. I'm sure there's many red flags that trigger the extra steps.
It's sort of ridiculous what they wanted to "verify " our identity even after using it for years. I was about to give up and call it a day until I realized things were normal in my android phone.

I think these promotions are the exact reason for account confirmation. Previously it didn't really matter if you had several Google accounts. In fact, it was pretty common & many people had several accounts. Now imagine if I could use my dozens of Google accounts to claim a $21 cashback incentive in each one. Now extrapolate that over however many promos they do & the countless accounts some individuals have. I can completely understand Google's desire to confirm these accounts as a prerequisite of giving away free money basically.

Anyone tried to use multiple account with same name? I used it on different gmail and different CC with same name. It does not track the purchase. Google is limiting 1 offer per SSN?

Why would they let one person get the promotion more than once? How are people continually surprised by this as a limitation?

Worked for me. Added the deal, made sure my CC was enrolled for this promotion, through the gpay app I bought a $50 Target gc online, used my enrolled cc, got a gpay notification instantly that I earned a $21 reward.
Same here but looks like it won't be available for 30 days. That way people can't buy them return and already use the credit

If you haven't got your promotional credited I would recommend doing it and waiting until everything is processed to see if maybe it doesn't cause it to go through once you confirm your account.

Any confirmations yet if a $50+ purchase in-store at Target using NFC will trigger both rewards (the referral $10+, and the Target one)

Searching this thread doesn't yield concrete data points.

If by confirm, you meant identity confirmation, I can tell you that it doesn't guarantee anything. My wife did the identity verification as part of linking her bank account to make the $10 payment, before activating the Target deal and made a purchase at Target. Yet, no Target cashback confirmed 12 hours later. I used the exact same steps and was instantly confirmed. I will not try to burn another $50, will submit a support ticket instead.

Please report back. Same thing for me. No rewards.

Can we use Google Pay from iPhone? I did not know that's possible.
For this Target offer, you just need GPay app to add this offer to your account and enroll your credit card(s) to the offer.

Then, just use one of the enrolled credit cards to purchase something from Target (>= $50) via any methods (swipe card at store, contact less payment at store if supported, pay it online at Target.com, etc.)

It's so stupid how Target does their processing, but this might be a reason why you're not seeing your reward.

Given that you:
1. Activated promotion
2. Linked an eligible card (my was Double Cash back CITI card)
3. Pay using the card online or in-store (does not matter how you use the card, i.e. card or google pay/apple pay/etc.)

Given above, the promotion should work fairly quick. I saw my transaction from Target almost right away in the app, but did not see the promotional reward. Okay... today is the next day and still nothing. I checked my Target receipt/email and I found that under $50 (like $45) was charged from Target and the other $8 (in cart, that made my total go above $50) was from a 3rd party selling through Target. Not only was shipping separate, it also register the charges separately too. My guess is that because one of the item was "sold by ... (not target)", even though my cart total was over $50, the transaction from Target was less than $50 and therefore not qualifying for the award.

To confirm, I just purchased a $50 gift card for target. Literally closed the app and opened it back up and I see the reward pending. Not even a minute from purchasing gift card on my computer to reopening the app. So, obviously, different vendors seem to affect the promotion. Double check that you're not adding something to cart that's not sold by Target. I didn't know until I looked into it today that one item has under its price, "Sold and shipped by eForCity"...

I used the NFC (tap to pay) feature and worked without issue.

Edit: I just re-read your statement. I see I missed the question. I think the referral reward is when you pay an individual.

I bought $100 apple GC from target and see the reward show up right after. Refer my wife the link and she also bought the same deal, seeing $21 reward right after too. But we did not receive the referral reward. What did we do wrong?
