No, as long as you activated the Target offer in the Gpay app and have the toggle on beside the card you used. I just went to Targets website to purchase a GC. And made sure I used a card that was enabled. Cards used as a Debit (with a PIN) do not work in store, unless you use them as credit.

I used a Debit/MC without any issues. showed up under the $ tab as a target transaction

I sent an invite as well and we did the 10 transfer for the 21 but did not receive bonus, but the invite had to verify identity first, maybe that's what's stalling it?.
For anyone trying to get the referral bonus by sending $10 to someone, you have to redeem the reward. It doesn't automatically show up in your account.

At the home page, there should be an icon with the person's name who sent you $10. Click it and underneath the box that says "you were paid $10" there should be a link that says "you earned a reward". Click that link and then click the gift to reveal your $21 bonus. Now the reward icon should show on the homepage. Both the referrer and referee need to do this.

I must be blind because I don't see that listed anywhere.
Actually, it's the 2nd featured comment, not the OP.

I don't think Mastercard is valid for the offer. That's probably why.
Yes it validated the Citi MasterCard. I originally tried Discover and it would not validate for the offer.

Same thing happened to me. My theories are:
1. disqualified for same billing address (doubtful as I see other people successfully referring their spouses)
2. Did Target $21 offer first before doing $10 payment for referral (I didn't but I read that's the case).
I did all my referrals first. But after 3 days I said f it and did the target one. Hopefully they're just slow, or they will respond to my email and explain what happened. I'll let everyone know if I hear anything. Also my wife and I have different accounts with different billing, so don't think it's #1 either.

my debit card is a MC, no issues.

Anyone with a chase freedom unlimited card get the reward immediately? I got the reward immediately with my amex card but my wife hasn't on her chase. She has the card linked in gpay to show all recent transactions but the target transaction isn't showing. Does the charge need to go past pending?
I have the Chase Freedom card, but not the unlimited one. I got a notice immediately.

For people ordering online, you may not get a notification until you either pick up or it's shipped.

BTW, I need a couple referrals to give out, if anyone looking for one.

Did I screw myself, so the referral cashback says 21 for first payment, but I did the target cashback which will make this my first payment. Will this cancel my referral cashback.
Nope..Referral payments include

1.sending money to a friend you haven't sent before
2.making contactless payments in store

I was so confused this morning, so I had my husband help and set it up. I KNOW that it says that RedCard isn't eligible, but he enrolled the RedCard Mastercard and it shows as "eligible" under the target offer soooooo he used it to buy the gift cards.
The $21 reward hasn't shown up. Target RedCard means debit and/or mastercard. Is that correct?
Have we successfully botched this?

I received my $21 instantly.
Quick question.
If I send a referral to my mom we both get $21 after she spends or sends $10.
Instead can she just buy a $50 target gift card.
If so would she get $42 with just that one purchase since she qualified for both?

NO. You get $21 for the Target offer. You get another $21 for sending someone $10 or more.
