Note, availability for curbside pickup may vary by location. Not all conditions are available for shipping, so your mileage may vary on local pickup availability.
Best buy has recently reduced a number of open box laptop prices. A good amount are around 50% off, with some being discounted even more. Price will vary based on condition. Not all conditions are available for shipping, so YMMV on local pickup availability.
the last "satisfactory" item i bought from bestbuy was a sony camera
I had it shipped, and while they had the original box and accessories, the actual camera was beat to death and definitely did not match the rating. It wasn't really even "fair"
I returned it in store, and they thought i did the damage, and flagged my account to refuse returns for 90 days... during year end.......
needless to say, i'll never risk buying open box from best buy again
not worth the potential headaches over $100-200, esp for something you'll keep for a long time
Wow, thorough post ! Good work 👍🏼
Good work, however some of the more acceptable ones are not even close to 50% off, ones that are might have been beaten to crap (scratches/dents) and even so you will have to try to find one near you......

I returned one of those UHD display Inspiron 7000s. Lousy laptop. Gets uncomfortably hot even under lighter loads. Having 4GHz RAM doesn't seem to give it any kind of edge as the Ice Lake CPU is capped at 15W. Xe graphics aren't for AAA games (as we kind of already knew).
The display is really nice but for $1000+ I expect better. Putting a 4K display on this was kind of a funny choice. It's like putting turbo on a Prius.
I also had an issue where gaming with an eGPU I'd get low frame rates if the display was hooked up to the GPU. Using the eGPU to drive the game on the internal display (this happens by default automatically at least with Nvidia eGPU) I get solid 60FPS. CPU is not floored in either case, I can only guess there's some kind of Thunderbolt bug specific to the Inspiron 7000. No issues like that with a ThinkPad with 10th Gen Intel i7.
Versus the Gateway Walmart deal with the rtx 2060 at $699? the gateway is Intel and Nvidia versus the Ryzen/AMD; so not sure how they compare apples to apples (don't care too much about screen/keyboard since will be using external of both)

I picked up a displayed listed as satisfactory a few years ago which was in perfect condition besides it being powered on for super long as a display. They had a casing over it so that's why it was in good condition. I highly suggest people take a look at it in store before buying because I did see some ridiculously bad ones like you mentioned. Also, make sure to ask if they have 20% off for open box which I remember in previous years some stores offer which can be stacked on top of the sale. I didn't receive a pen for my lenovo as well even though satisfactory list as missing stuff, but I told them it came with the laptop and they refunded me a good amount because they couldn't offer me one. Just some tips for people
