I have been doing research for a birthday gift and combined all the top cold brew makers from Wirecutter, Good Housekeeping, and Wired. Out of those ~15 options, this is the third best based on user reviews for brew, leakage, cleaning, and the filter.

Curious...this looks like just a container and a filter. Would you get the same result from putting coffee and cold water into a French press overnight, and then filtering out the coffee grinds the next day?

Is it possible to over extract using the cold brew method like brewing for several times longer than the instructions?

Yes, it'll end up tasting more bitter

Use coarse ground beans, not fine ground. I use a different brand brewer and let it brew for 2 days.

I would say yes. I don't see why it wouldn't work. You just have to figure out the amount of coffee to the size of the container your using. I use 12 oz. of coffee to 2 qts. of water.

Hoping the white one would go on sale. The ball one looks like it would take a lot of space in the fridge and doesn't look as nice

Yup, same results. I did the French press before getting this. Picked this one up because it was larger and, being fully sealed, allowed me to brew and store in a single device. Been really happy with this overall after a few brews. 12 -15 hours has usually been the sweet spot for me in either device.

Yes. This is how I make cold brew. It also makes hot coffee.

Love this cold brew coffee maker/pitcher. I've had it for over 2-3 years and still going strong. The quality is great, not cheap plastic that will crack on you. I've overtightened the lid many times and it's still fine.

Also the size is pretty good, fits on the door shelf.
