Messermeister.com is having a Winter Sale on their Oliva Elite and Kawashima knives. This sale stacks with the coupon NEXT15 for an additional 15% off.

The olive wood handles on the Oliva Elite line are typically a pretty big premium over Messermeister's Meridian Elite series - the steel is the same between both lines, so it's just the feel and aesthetics of the wood you're paying extra for normally. I wanted more of the Oliva series but it was hard to justify the price jump for the handle upgrade. With the current sale and stacking promo code, the Oliva Elite actually comes out cheaper than the standard Meridian Elite now.

The steel on these knives is around 57 - 58 HRC, comparable with other German steel chef knives like Wusthof and Victorinox Forschner.

This is a nice find. I bought my wife the 6 piece Oliva Elite set for her birthday a few years ago. She is the Chef de Cuisine at a rather large company and uses them Every. Single. Day. And loves them to death. The handles require a little care twice a year or so, but the steel takes and keeps an edge beautifully. An excellent, beautiful knife set and this is a great price!

It's not over; everything is still available except for 2 knives and the Oliva 8-piece block set (and the sets aren't as steep of a discount as it is). The 8-piece set was already sold out when I posted the link, actually. But all of the individual Oliva Elite knives are still available. The 6-piece set I included for the attachment is still available, as well, but again, the discount isn't nearly as steep percentage-wise for the block sets.
