Not sure of your math (or concern) but considering farmers have a $10 billion subsidy for rural internet (never mind roads, education etc) and we directly give $40 billion to farmers (who are not going hungry) maybe we can help poor children? Kudos to Tmob
100G/12months,8.xG/month.

I believe the 100G runs out quickly. Zoom meetings, youtube all need much data.

But thank T-mobile gives help to kids who need a free hotspot.
I think he meant "runs out fast" (quantity) rather than "runs fast" (speed).

He meant Zoom/YouTube consume a lot of data (quantity), not that they need high bandwidth (speed).

Who is eligible?
Project 10Million offers free hotspots and 100GBs/year and access to at-cost laptops and tablets, to eligible students participating in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) - one per household. Parents will need to provide proof of NSLP approval for free or reduced-price meals upon enrollment. This approval can be in the form of a notification letter based upon request or a direct certification of eligibility letter.

Divide by 10 months so 10 gb a month. Maybe a better way of looking at it is 100 gb / 180 school days = 0.555 gb per day But yeah, that could run out pretty quickly.

For the record, the average unlimited data user on TMobile uses 4GB of data per month on their phone. THat's instagram, youtube, sending and uploading and backing up videoes, etc. It's not EVERYTHING, but for education and post work entertainment it should fit the bill fine

The vast majority of the average unlimited T-Mobile data user is likely connected to wifi at home or work and not consuming cellular data for all of the instagram, youtube, etc. So the *average* mobile data user is a horrible number to reflect actual data use. 4GB/month is nothing ... about 16 hours of Youtube at 480p resolution. Which means four 4 hours days of Zoom?

A better metric is the average (or median) home internet use by Comcast/Xfinity users which is 308GB/month according to this page [xfinity.com].

That's right. Zoom will consume more data.

I don't think you know how many months are in a year, but I can tell you it's definitely not 10.

(Tongue in cheek, I realize you're talking about how many months school is in session but the hotspot isn't limited to only working during those months. Plus kids can continue to learn throughout the summer.)
I think he/she is OK, every year only has 180 school days.
