$380 is fast approaching a lower end, electric start, gas powered, 2 stage self propelled blower such as this one [amazon.com]..... whereas, you can buy better quality for similar or less in off season.

We have this Greenworks in the corded model [greenworkstools.com] ($100 on sale) that does fine for light work, but does not throw snow very far. Without the 2nd stage, wet snow just plugs up the auger in most all.... and any deep snow will get a decent work out with the pushing and pulling of non-self propelled.

These cordless will get better, but right now, a 2 stage Snow Joe [homedepot.com] or maybe a better choice, the 2 stage Ego model [acehardware.com], that will compete with a low end gas powered unit, will set you back some major dollars.

Definitely agree that the 2 stage would be ideal but out of price range for many and potentially not practical for many states. I bought the 60 v 22" single stage snow blower tool only around Labor Day for about $260 and have experienced it block up but overall I've been happy with it for the price I paid.

My practical urban Canadian friends that don't understand paying for a gym and use a shovel/pusher, are out there removing every few inches so as not to be one major project.

You can now snag the corded models for around a $100 or less.... that were once $300. Very lightweight, I often use one for sidewalks, patios and decks. In time, like most all free market technology, the self propelled 2 stage battery powered should come down in price and be affordable. Right now, we can buy at least two gas units for the same price of battery powered with batteries and charger that still uses 'fossil fuels' to make the grid electric to charge with.

I just experienced this with my honda single stage. Slush jammed it up literally every couple feet.of travel. Gave up and shovelled. It was maybe 1.5 inches deep

I can't imagine going back to just shoveling. The time and back pain saved is well worth the money.

With that said... I'm not sure if these battery operated ones are cut out for any job. I have the snow joe 40v and 2 batteries hardly did 175 linear feet of my sidewalk/porch at about 8 inches of snow from this past week. If i remember correctly, I had to use the 2 extra batteries from my lawn mower to get through all that. It also kept constantly stalling any time it hit anything full on. To keep it from stalling, I had to try and run it over just the top few inches first.

Seems like corded may be the way to go if not getting a gas blower based on experience from my friends who have corded electrics and are doing way more footage than me.
