You can get this brushless kit for 299 and add a free tool. You can add a Octane Impact Wrench and do the return trick. You end up getting the brushless recip, drill, impact, and flashlight with 2 batteries and charger for $187.

Good call. I don't assign much value to the little radio and vacuum. Could always pick those up on DTO for real cheap and be under $300 with brushless.

Just sold some of the tools from a kit I bought just for the circ saw, and you can basically get free tools or better if you're willing to do a little work. Especially when combined with returning the "free" tool.

Does anyone have actual experience using the LSA?

People make a big deal about it, but all I've ever heard about it is hassle and disappointment.
I have used the LSA multiple times and it has always been a breeze. Depending on what the issue is, they may have to order a part, so you may have to wait a little bit to get the tool fixed. Where I live, you just take the tool into the LSA licensed shop here in town with your customer number and they just take care of everything for you. I have had them fix a tile saw, impact driver, and hammer drill. Never had any issues.

For battery replacements, you can just call the Ridgid service desk (they have a number specifically for battery replacements that you can find on the ridgidpower website) and they ask a couple questions and then mail you a new replacement battery. Make sure you register the new battery within 90 days to keep your LSA on the battery.

The kit plus the 1/2" impact seems like a really good deal, doesn't it? I haven't paid much attention to recent deals.

some of the reviews are suspicious and others calling the tools "cheap" feeling.

This is so tempting. Been waiting on a Ridgid kit deal. But I don't really need the flashlight or radio. How much better are the tools in that brushless set? $187 after octane driver return seems crazy.

If the deal doesn't appear for you, try changing the zip code in a private window and don't allow the website to view your location data. Worked for me then.

Buy the kit with the free tool, select the highest value tool (octane impact wrench). When you receive the items, return the free tool. You won't get full return amount for the retail value of the free tool, but you will receive a partial refund dropping the price of the full kit lower than it would've been.

Just to add, the brushless are good tools, and the impact was a great addition when I bought it. It gets decent amount of use and is quite strong for a battery tool. I would definitely recommend the brushless set mentioned over this "older gen" set in op.

The secret is if they don't honor it is you contact your state Consumer Protection Agency. When they get a letter from them, rigid will take care of you
