Ok, had this watch for almost 2 years now. I bought it with my S10+ .
Battery life at the start was approximately 4-5 days. 2 years later, it's down to 3-4.
Remember, I have the Bluetooth only version. If you have/get the LTE connected version, battery life is 1-2 days at best.
Fitness tracking is good (auto detection on certain exercises). Step tracking is good. Message notifications are good too.
No real complaints with the watch. I had the Moto 360 and the Samsung Gear before this, both couldn't make it through the day one charge.
Bands are easily switchable, cheap to find on any site. My original band did break about 2 months ago. Not a big deal to replace it (or cry over the spilled milk)
Meh, Samsung's site is bogus advertising as usual... $174 if you trade in but $279 if you want to buy straight out....
The rotating bezel is the best part of this watch. The 46mm gen 1 has the best battery life of any AMOLED screen smartwatch except for Amazfit or Huawei, but those don't have an any outside app support. The new Mobvoi is better, but only by using the 2nd LCD screen. The new chip in that watch looks great though, so if you want to wait anything that has that new chip would likely be a better buy in the future.
Someone mentioned earlier that this watch "only" gets 2-3 days of battery, which made me laugh. I didn't realize class-leading could be referred to as "only."
I get 2.5 days with an AOD that has a seconds hand always ticking. I came from a Garmin Venu, Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music, and every single iteration of the Pebble watches except for the round.
The smartwatch functions are amazing compared to anything else I've tried - I've played with the Watch3 and didn't really find anything too different besides looks. The largest con is the sport functions are garbage fire quality compared to Garmin. Good luck getting it to track anything besides a walk or heartrate accurately. Sleep tracking is okay enough to me.
The gen 1 GW runs the same chipset as the GW3. This is the lowest price I've seen for the Bluetooth (I bought LTE bc the ram was double, but I don't use data service).
Looks are highly subjective, but I think the gen 1 looks much better than the GW3 IF it you put a bezel cover over it. That, plus the better battery life is why I just bought the gen 1 - I prefer using the AOD so the GW3 would have died in about a day and a half. Really depends on what you need it for.
