He's right, this exact same mix of nuts is at Sam's under the Member's Mark brand. And I can't vouch for that brand specifically, but the 40 oz container of Kirkland brand nuts are much better quality than Planters.
Regardless, subscribe and save might be silly, but it's also extremely easy to set up and cancel. This is still a good deal.
Edit: nevermind, that has different nuts, with more peanuts filler.
