Amazon Germany has the Denon AH-D7200 headphones on sale for 600 Euros. After all the exchange rate and shipping cost, it comes to about $725. I almost never see these on sale at their $1000 MSRP plus tax.
If you are interested in these, they have some of the best bass in closed headphones. Overall it's pretty balanced, with slightly rolled off treble. The mids/vocals is pretty good not as recessed as Denon and other closed backs. These are also fairly easy to drive with portable players. The construction in these Japanese cans is just exquisite.

Interesting that Amazon on the de or us site does not carry the AH-D9200 which is Denon's current flagship. I would love to see it have an equal drop in price.

These were pretty ehh in my opinion. Bass is overblown and vocals are veiled as a result. This can be fixed with alternative earpads but the real killer is the awful headband system. Despite being built well, it does not actually adjust to the human skull in a meaningful way. The darn thing just gets wider with barely any downward adjustment which just creates a hotspot in the center of the headband due to less headband contact with further adjustment. So you either have a sorespot on the crown of your head or the earcups don't actually align to your ears.
It's really a darn shame that the ergonomics are bad because these types of Denons are easily the best built of their kind (i.e., the foster/fostex family).
Also, people tend to compare these to the TH900. In terms of build, these denons are way better. However, in terms of both comfort and sound quality, the TH900 pulls ahead. The only supposed advantage the 7200 is more forward mids, but that doesn't matter when those mids are also muffled. Of course the TH900 is at least $300 more so new; so ehh.
