I currently use this exact brand and have been happy with taste/results. The tin is nice because it has a section where you can scrape your teaspoon to ensure you always get a level teaspoon of matcha. I've tried it both in a latte with almond milk, davinci sugar free vanilla syrup, cinnamon and some real vanilla extract as well as just adding a teaspoon to protein powder and water to give my protein drink a boost.

A while back I posted a very similar deal that was the same brand but came in a bag instead of this tin so if you liked that you'll like this one....and vice versa.

so not actually "matcha". Real matcha is from Japan....

I don't see it documented anywhere that "matcha" must be from Japan, similar to Champagne. Care to cite a source?

Maybe referring to quality? Just a guess.

That's a nice generalization which is about as accurate overall as me saying "All cigars taste the same as Cubans." I've made matcha pudding using chia seed, almond milk and this matcha and I can't say it tasted like dirt to me..then again I don't recall eating dirt.
Don't pretend you do not know what dirt taste like. You have been eating dirt pudding. Really just try Rishi everyday matcha atleast then come back and tell me this matcha does not taste funny. 100g portion for consumers is $30 directly from Rishi which nets you 50 servings, and if that is too expensive then there are other ways to score a better deal from them or you should not be even purchasing matcha. I have served hundreds of matcha lattes professionally and went through many different matcha teas before settling on Rishi. It is a gold standard to me and the value is great. I would not even consider chinese matcha after sampling so many of them because the cost was dramatically less. The color is much darker, tastes of grass and you're really just using a mystery product with mystery health benefits.

The 100g for $30 doesn't seem to be available? https://rishi-tea.com/tsuyuhikari...tea-powder

What are the other ways to score better deals from them? That's what everyone wants since this is Slickdeals.

matcha is Chinese translation for grounded green tea. They were popular once introduced into Japan. Matcha's history started in China. For those of you saying "Chinese matcha, not real matcha". Please read and learn history.

What people are forgetting is matcha from Japan is high quality and nutritious grown in healthy conditions compared to China's cheaply made and processed, contaminated with arsenic and heavy metals.

How old are you cause I can assure you I'm no spring chicken and have NO memory of ever having eaten dirt. I may have done something stupid like that when I was very young but those memories are long gone. Anyway back to the topic. I'll leave it to the individual person to decide if this product is useful to them. You've made your opinion very clear and you have the right to your own opinion..but so do the others in this thread who either use or want to try this product. Before I tried crown royal I drank alot of Evan Williams. If you want to drink the whiskey by itself I'd point the the crown..if you mixing the whisky into a drink I'd point to the evan williams becase why waste top shelf liquor if you are not gonna taste it?....again though I'm adding matcha to protein powder and water or a latte that has cinnamon, ginger, real vanilla extract and whatever else I choose to add to the mix....I have not found the taste bad at all. It's also done well for my blood pressure which is why I started taking it in the first place so again I'm fine with it.

Matcha is translated and pronounced in Chinese. It's means grounded tea or powered tea. They were introduced into japan 800 years ago from China.

It's true matcha originated in china. It's also true the Japanese spent centuries "perfecting" the best way to grow/process it and china's standards CAN be iffy sometimes. It's sometime's better to start with a cheap product like this before looking at 100grams (20 teaspoons so 20 drinks made at "normal strength" though some go with 1/2 teaspoons) for $30.

Both side have valid points but in the end personal taste and preference rules.

The whole not grown in Japan thing is just stupid. First off, you wouldn't be getting tea leaves from regions that saw any radiation after the 2011 tsunami. Secondly, this is a chinese product. I would never buy matcha from China because the tea plants uptake significant quantities of heavy metals from the soil. While this is generally safe in tea that is steeped as a whole leaf, these teas should absolutely not be ingested.

I have to admit that the marketing is a clever way to convince stupid people that they have a superior product, but you should never drink Chinese matcha.
