I have the official case. I'd say that generic one looks just as functional. The official case to me looks like it'll be a little slimmer.
If you like using the a7 tablet in portrait mode, the book cover doesn't fold perfectly in that it'll be a little wider than the tablet if folded flat or can't fold it flat. Otherwise it is great especially to stand it up.
I think these ship a lot quicker than their tablets. I don't see how it can break in transit.
Mine shipped same day from Tennessee, should be here Tuesday.
