The Elite version basically takes clips of the anime and plays them in the background, which I found pretty distracting. If you are accustomed to visual novels at all I think it would be particularly jarring. The original VN's art is also more distinctive.
I'd recommend just watching the anime over the Elite version of the VN.

Hmm never heard of this show before but just picked up the game as it's highly rated everywhere. Will check the anime series out as well once I get through my backlog a bit!
