I have one of these. The picture is very, very nice. Unfortunately, the rest of it is crap. The OS sucks, there's no other way to say it. It crashes at times, it gives glitchy OS messages at times that have to be cleared by the remote, it's slower than molasses. It's generally a mess. I would NEVER, EVER recommend Vizio to anyone.
I bought last year model of this TV. I'll never buy a vizio again. I've had nothing but constant problems. You really get what you pay for. Rtings.com is right that when this TV works it looks amazing... But as an honest owner I can attest that isn't always the case
Distance between the feet is 50.87" if anyone is wondering.

Also, for the bad OS, that can be fixed by running off a $50 Google TV or fancy nVidia Shield Pro. Let the external device stream and be your interface.

How does this compare to the LG Nano 91 series?
LG LCDs are garbage. Avoid LG except for their OLEDs

I think that's why there are so many tv companies. Each has their own spin and compromises.

For every reason you can state why vizio sucks, the same could be said about every other tv brand. Like people are bashing vizio for 4k 120, vrr. Well look, sony who makes the stupid ps5 and tvs can't get any of their stuff working based on what I'm seeing. Like how does that even make sense. So best bang for the buck is what I'm choosing. Costco sold out of this tv and black friday it also sold out on the pq series, seems people like this deal and tv.
Actually, 4k 120hz vrr doesn't work on lg, samsung or vizio on series x, and like you said the sony tvs haven't even been updated to include any HDMI 2.1 feature and ps5 doesn't even support VRR. So I don't understand the complaints, this TV is great, and only improvement would be OLED in my opinion, but with OLED has risk of burn in (which is a real risk)

Doesn't really fix it, it's a workaround. Owners have a right to expect an OS that is functional

OLED also has terrible judder because the response time is nearly instantaneous. I'm typing this on my OLED iPhone X from 2017 and it has visible burn in. OLED is good for things you replace quickly like smartphones, but not TVs which you keep for at least 5 years.

The OS is functional. Mine never crashed, you may have needed to update. It's certainly not great, but it's not terrible. The only great ones are not on TVs. Fire TV 4K and Roku 4K

If you can wait a few months then you'll be rewarded with next gen sets from Sony, Samsung, and tcl.

This year is not just an incremental step up but touts major improvement in brightness, size, hdmi 2.1/VRR, and processing.

Check out detail from CES this month.

LOL this TV has all those things you are saying to wait for. VRR, HDMI 2.1, brightness (maybe THE brightest) etc.

I have a M658 G1 from 14 months ago. I don't use SmartCast or any of the apps on the TV. I have dealt with the TV finding new and interesting ways to crash and stop working throughout the last year. Also note there are multiple software levels on the TV, aside from the base firmware. There are also software updates for the apps, which affect the TV, even if you don't use them. Which is all to say the SmartCast app on the TV can crash the TV even if you literally never use it and never even accepted the Privacy Agreement. Any potential cost saving buying the TV has been lost due to frustration.

I'm never buying a Vizio TV again.

Picture quality of the TV is amazing... The os on the other hand is not good at all. It's basically a lottery when purchasing this tv

It's a lottery purchasing any tv. Uniformity is a complete toss up. As for OS, that would never be a lottery, it's the same on all.

Other then the os how is the picture? I don't really care about the os since I'm just gonna use my firetv box on it. I was debating between LG Cx and this and obviously the oled is better but is it $900 better? I also like TVs that are bright and I read the the Vizio gets very very bright compared to the LG cx. This is the best $1k will get me right?

I used to like Vizio a lot. But TCL and Hisense seem to have taken the spot of best bang for buck and keep getting better OS'es with Android TV or Roku.

The people on here hating about the OS with the Vizio just want to hate. It's a great tv. Does it have it's issues with the OS? Absolutely. Is that a deal breaker for most people? Nope.
It also has problems with the backlight and local dimming though.

Here's what is interesting to me. Now, without question it's convenient to just use the TVs apps, but the truth is, if you buy a TV almost everyone keeps them for at least 4–5 years, and guess what isn't being updated in that time? The computer chip in the TV. This is why an external streaming device is always the correct decision when it comes to apps. You either get a fire tv 4K stick or a roku and call it a day.

Alternatively, mainly stick to using the dedicated buttons on the remote.
100 percent correct.

If they only fixed the OS this tv would be so worth!
