I have this and I like it a lot! Someone reviewed a previous thread about shredding the base. I'm assuming he meant the toothed bit that locks into the blades to spin them. That would be tough to do if you actually put the carafe on the base without it being way off kilter. It frankly can't be on it without being on it properly.

I now use cheaper and less powerful Ace 60 model and own two. They last about ten months each with heavy usage and you can get one replaced via warranty service the first 12 months. I only paid for one, but due to warranty miscommunication have two now I find it absolutely essential in my kitchen and can not go a day without it, YMMV however
