Is it worth getting the Asurion 3 year warranty for this? its only $10.99 on amazon and feel its worth getting if the foils or blades get damaged and I can get this replaced..

I also have the LA63 is this much better? The LA63 I have its very good however I feel it hurts quite a bit when I shave after I use a razor then switch back to electric (Maybe this is normal)? Any advice will help. Thanks!
I've never bought any Asurion protection plan. Hmm, I am wondering if you can buy it within 30 days of purchasing the shaver?

Yes, you can. just search amazon for asurion, the plan amount and category. As long as you purchased the item at amazon in the previous 30 days, you're covered.

I've looked into it! There are a lot of criteria (skin color, hair color, etc) that you have to meet for it to be effective and even with laser it's not permanent, it just makes there be "less" of it. It was super expensive when I looked at the costs so passed on even trying it. I also found electrolysis as a possible option, but haven't looked into that much at all (this is a permanent solution).

If you find a good solution, let me know - we're in the same boat Smilie
Groupon usually has really good deals for laser treatment, around $110 for 6 treatments on a medium area.

I thought arc5 is a version. How many versions does arc5 model have? Should not have to be this version naming confusion
They refresh the razers with new features every so often. 5 is the number of blades, not a revision number. OP is for the Arc5 2020 edition.

how much better is this than a $40 foil shaver? seems like it takes forever to get a good shave with one, so i'm not sure if i should upgrade or go back to a safety razor
I have never used a cheap foil, i went straight from Gillette Mach XX to a Braun series seven, that was 7 or more years ago now, replaced the foil once in that time and have loved having it vs. traditionally shaving. Have not had burn/irritation either. I do wonder if this is a "you get what you pay for experience."

Of note: I have had a beard for the majority of those 7 years oddly enough, but still use it on my neck/cheeks/unibrow and for trimming my mustache over my lip. Works great.

Got this (my first one of its kind) a year ago for the same price. Went in with a lot of anticipation. Here are my thoughts/experiences after year:

Pros:
1. You dont have to deal with the messy shaving cream/gel and water and so on.
2. Gives you a surprisingly close shave. It feels very smooth similar to what you get with traditional shaving method that is razor (safety or cartridge based). You basically cant tell the difference.
3. One charging gives you 5-6 shaves, so you don't have to keep charging all the time. I shave alternate days, so you are looking at charging this every 10 days or so.
4. Doesnt cut/bruise your skin in anyway.

Cons:
1. Takes a lot of getting used to. You dont get that 'feeling' that you shaved Smilie
2. Unlike traditional shaving, it takes awfully lot of time to finish shaving. For me 5-6 mins sometimes. You have to go-over the same area multiple times. Of course it takes similar amount with traditional method as you pay the time upfornt in terms of lathering up the face etc.
3. Can feel hot some times after few mins of using it.
4. There has always been places where I came out left with little patch of hair, ever so slightly. mainly after giving up how long it takes.
5. If you let out your beard grow beyond 4 days (lot of that is happening these days staring early 2020), the shaving becomes even harder/time consuming. You'd need to trim first.

Overall I like it, its pleasantly surprising how close a shave this gives.

This was my exact experience and the reason I returned it last time it hit front page. I tried it for 2 weeks and hated it. Constantly would have to spend 10+ minutes going over the same spots until my face was red and dry, and eventually just had to give up. Maybe it's just me but I don't understand how this shaver gets such rave reviews here. It was by far the worst shaver I'd ever used.

Can you use this plugged in? My older arc 5 is unusable while plugged. You must plug it in and wait... :/
Not 100% sure but given it is still a wet/dry shaver most likely it cannot be used while plugged in.

Isn't 5 blade a bit of overkill? What's wrong with 3-blade shavers? Are these any better to justify the 2x foil/blade replacement prices?

I actually use this shaver with shaving cream. Gives better results and most importantly, I have sensitive skin, so I purposely picked a shaver that I can use wet (most other brands are dry only). Otherwise, I agree with all your points. A good comparison of pros and cons.

I bought one 1 month ago, the price is $129
Same here. I bought in Dec 2020 and returnable until end of Jan, so I've ordered a new one @$99 and will return the new unopened one against my $129 order. With one day shipping the new one will arrive tomorrow or worse Wed Jan 20, plenty of time to return. Bit of a hassle but for $30 I'll do it. Can return at UPS store 3 blocks from house Smilie

Most reviews seem to indicate that after the new 13000rpm Arc3 (ES8103S and similar) came out, the improvements after that, incl. arc4 and arc5 are marginal. However, if you have one of the really old Arc3s, there's a more noticeable difference.

However, half of the display on my Arc3 doesn't work anymore, so I got this to replace it instead of buying replacement foils. I'll probably use the old one for travel or something, whenever it's safe to do that again.
