Nope. Not too long. I use 9" and 12" in my M12 hackzall. 6" wasn't cutting it for most of my wood applications.

It will work. It won't work nearly as well. The shorter stroke plus longer blade equates to more reciprocating mass.

I have this pruning blade and personally, I'm not a fan. The tooth design is too aggressive and if there is any flex in what you are cutting, it tends to want to grab and hold instead of cutting. It works better on really thick branches.

If you want good pruning blades for a recip, consider getting some from Japan. SK11 and Zette both make amazing pruning blades (both brands are made in Japan):

https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/Rec...005UIWXQ6/

https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/gp/...B0111ZEB5C

Ordering from Amazon Japan is pretty easy. Language is the main problem. Once you are on the site, click the hamburger (3 horizontal lines) menu in the upper-left, scroll down and look for a gray globe icon, click that and you can change the language to English. It will translate most but not all of the text on the site. Chrome with Google Translate can help with the rest.

Most items shipped by Amazon Japan will ship to the US. The shipping runs about $12 and up depending on order size, definitely want to bundle your order to get the best deal on shipping. However, at least for me, once my order ships I usually get it withing a day or two via DHL. For prices, just take the price in Yen and divide by 100 to get a rough estimate of the USD amount (actual price will usually be a bit lower based on currency conversion but it's a good rule of thumb for quick conversion).

Thanks for mapping that out. Honestly, those better be some absolutely incredible blades to be willing to do all that though.

They really are good. The tooth profile is similar to what you see in Japanese hand saws like those from Silky. Once you order once it's pretty easy, basically like ordering from Amazon US but without free shipping. I usually place orders over there 2 or 3 times a year. I just add stuff to cart until I have a good bang for the buck for the shipping.

I am a fan of made in Japan and have no doubts those are good blades.

I have used a few 9" and 12" pruning blades from US Amazon. Reasonable price, very happy with the blades. Here is one example https://www.amazon.com/EZARC-Pruning-Reciprocating-Lifetime-12-inch/dp/B07X471T34/ref=sr_1_8?dchild=... [amazon.com]
