Why would anyone buy a non-wifi receiver these days? What am I missing?
I would rather have a non wifi stereo receiver. The reason being the firmware of the receiver could lose support in a few years. Just look at what happened with Sonos old hardware. They just bricked them and canceled the support. It's better in my opinion to have a non wifi receiver with bluetooth support.

I wish these things had a sub out. So many of these stereo receivers lack one.

I see that now. Strange, couldn't see one when I zoomed in on the pic of the back of the receiver and it is listed as a 2.0 system. But elsewhere on the internet I got a good pic of the back.

This reminds me of the guy who said he didn't believe in cordless tools such as drills. 🤨

To play devils advocate, I have a very nice pioneer amp that has HDMI switching, on screen programming, wifi and a bunch of other nice features that's a brick. My remote with the programming buttons stopped and I haven't found a universal that can trigger them. The wifi doesn't support AES encryption so I can't get to the device setup that way. The Ethernet port is not working. I got it up by using a laptop in ad hoc last time but then we had a power outage and it turned back off the speakers till I set it back up. It draws too much current for a reasonable UPS.

I got 6 or 7 years of use out of it, but I'm back to my previous Sony amp and a standalone HDMI switch and a Ali express Bluetooth kit for my phone.

Comparing apples to oranges here. I do have bunch of bluetooth speakers and connected devices. This receiver is meant for mostly analog listening and that's why has a phono input. Bluetooth is an extra and the target audience doesn't care about wifi.

No digital inputs and sold by dealparade who sells primarily refurbished products. Hard pass. Better off buying a small fosi amp with as much power and Bluetooth for half this price or less. I feel like this receiver is worth maybe $100, anything more and you have so many better options that take up a ton less space. By the way, yes I have tried this receiver and wasn't impressed with the volume output or sound quality. I prefer the sound from my fosi BL20C bt mini amp, which sounds louder, cleaner, and has a sub out. Oh and it was $85 shipped from amazon. Or go a different route and pick up a pair of powered Edifier bookshelf speakers w/ a sub out like the R1280ts for under $100.

If you're on super tight budget and don't need the latest features, don't forget to check out your local goodwills, etc. I picked up a Yamaha htr-5740 for $6 the other day. It was filthy, but everything seems to be working 100%. Lol.

Why are receivers increasing in price now? I got the Yamaha 2.0 stereo with bt from fry's for $100 before best buy clearance them to $50.

I got my sony 4k 5.2 hdmi receiver for $150 6 years ago and now $200 is considered good for a 5.1 receiver. I was getting refurbd ones from Onkyo direct for $80 8 yrs ago.

Bizarre.

There seems to be a bit of a supply issue in general. Everything in the lower-end is OOS most places.

I just need a cheap stereo for my shed, needs to be able to power 4 speakers, for back yard/greenhouse area. Seems all the stereos now want a TV to even set them up. I have a Denon AVRS540BT that I bought 2.5 years ago that I am considering putting out there. I never use it in the house

I got a $6 Yamaha htr-5740 from a goodwill type store (local charity) that looks likes it been in a shed for years, lol. But it works perfectly!
