This one has 3D. So if that's of interest to you, this is a good deal.

You can DIY a screen pretty easily in a variety of ways. Spandex gives you an acoustically transparent screen and is good enough for 4k. Painting a 5x10 sheet of laminate with a sprayer or a 1/4' nap roller will give you a screen size up to 120". Or just sand your wall as smooth as you can and paint that. Search the web and you'll find countless threads of people trying various paint colors and types to get a super high gain screen or even ALR (ambient light rejection) screens and everything in-between.

I just built a white milliskin over black milliskin acoustically transparent screen @115" for about $135 including wood, brackets, a kreg jig, and fabric. It is paired right now with a 4k BenQ HT3550 and is unbelievably crisp. 4k is made for screens this size and it's amazing. None of my other listed methods should cost more than $150.

Very often people don't figure the time cost in (and appropriate tools and skills)
I have tons of pending things to fix or improve at home and my wife often yells just find someone to do it.

Why not shoot for a 4K projector, and get this 1080P ?

*** just getting starting in research, don't know if I should pull the trigger on this one, and and not wait for a 4K one?
Depends on how much 4k content you have available, and I wouldn't invest in a 4k if you don't have a good setup (window/light control and screen in the room you are gonna put it). I bought a DLP 1080p (this is LCD, LCD bulb lasts longer but picture/color is generally inferior) and couldn't be happier. But I am biased, I've skipped 4k to date, still rocking 1080p projector, 1080p gaming/computer monitor, and TVs.

Of course - I received my refurb BenQ TH585 today. At least they're basically the same price, so I have that going for me 😃.

I have a BenQ Ht2050 that has been great since 2016 - that being said, once this one goes I will likely purchase a 4k projector to replace.

Ht2050 has 3D and it was fun for a bit and nice for a gimmick when friends stop by, otherwise the feature remains unused.

I picked this up in July and used it several times outdoors. I bought that 2017 slickdeal 12' Inflatable Diagonal Widescreen Airblown Movie Screen from HomeDepot for $50 and I was finally able to use it. Picture quality is great!

4k is available at 899$ ViewSonic new release.
1080p projector will be dead investment at this stage. 450$ with tax will be burden.
I guess additional investment on a good screen is needed if the projector is 4K. That will add up to the cost too. I presume regular budget screens aren't good enough for 4K.

2500 lumens outdoors. Was it only at night or did the picture quality hold up during daytime too?

Only at night. You can barely see a dim image if the sun is still not completely down.

Applause It was a great buy! Everyone that has seen my screen loves it and when they find out I paid $50 for it they immediately want to find one for that price.
