I ended up getting rollerblade wheels instead. IMO much better than a plastic or glass mat.
"As for the quality, unlike plastic mats, glass is glass so all tempered glass mats should be of comparable quality."

This is a very far from true statement. Quality, thickness, manufacturing, qc... all play big parts.

It's tempered glass (all chair mats are) so other than thickness, what could the other differences be? Saying "quality" "qc" "manufacturing" is too vague - and aren't you saying the same thing with three different words? What are the actual differences that matter for a glass chair mat? This one is a quarter-inch thick and I don't think you'd want it to be any thicker than that. If anything, thinner with equal strength would be better.

In any case, this has 2,500 reviews and averages five stars with a B score on Fake Spot. So maybe other glass mats might have quality issues but I can vouch for this one, it does the job and it's a steal at this price. If anyone is wondering, it also ships in a very secure package, the plastic one I mentioned above was just sandwiched between two pieces of cardboard.

I had one of these. Yes it doesn't dent but you're going to build stabilizing muscles to prevent your chair from rolling off the mat.

I like keeping one caster off the glass and the other 4 on glass. Still allows me to roll the chair with much, much less effort than on carpet but I'm in a stable position. And I have Herman Miller carpet casters, which are way better than most casters, but there's nothing like rolling on glass.

Same here, especially something that has to bare the brunt of ppls weights and constant impacts from office chairs

Might seem counter-intuitive but read the reviews to help you wrap your head around it. This is heavy duty tempered glass, not like a window pane.

These are better than plastic, should last forever and will look like new for years. Brand names like Vitrazza start at $300 for a mat this size and run all the way up to $800 for larger ones. I wanted glass but the cost was prohibitive, but for $60 (when I got it) this was a no-brainer for me.

Until you drop a small metallic object on it that only weighs a few ounces and then it looks like you survived an auto accident.

I have 2 of these in my office and they are amazing (I got the larger size). I'm a big guy, 6'1" 350. No issues. My chair is big and heavy as well. One for me, one for my kiddo.

These do not suffer from the cracking that happens over time, the pot holes in the carpet, or the fact that a larger guy like myself will wear out a plastic one in a year and spend 30 dollars on the plastic ones.
