I like this unit, but a "C" (power) wire from the Furnace/Air Conditioning unit IS REQUIRED.
You could by an 18/24volt low voltage plug in transformer (like you might use on your doorbell), and run the power lead thru the wall and to your thermostat.
Not every smart thermostat requires a "C" wire, but there may be some tradeoffs in WiFi connectivity. Maybe.....
About this item
Works with Alexa for voice control (Alexa device sold separately). Product requires C-Wire, unit will not work without it.
Control your Smart Home with Amazon Alexa for voice control (Alexa device sold separately) and Apple HomeKit with voice control using Siri, the Apple voice assistant
Unless the description was changed, these are the first 3 lines as shown directly from amazon saying it REQUIRES a C-Wire

It says "The T5+ Smart Thermostat helps you achieve greater comfort and efficiency in your home. It's easy to install even without a C-Wire, and features a simple, user-friendly interface."
It says right in the description "Product requires C-Wire, unit will not work without it"
Honeywell makes at least one thermostat that doesn't require the "C" Wire. But not this one....apparently~
I remember someone made a smart thermostat that uses a 2-wire system from thermostat to main unit in the basement, and then you just power it, from another source, and it communicates with smart thermostat upstairs and handles the signals, you just need to wire up the main unit downstairs as if it's the thermostat, and run another small line to power it up. I wish those were more common instead of c-wire nonsense old homes will never have c-wire.

You're right. A c wire is required. I'm not sure what the quoted part from the description was getting at... Very misleading.
