This is a pretty good price for a new copy of the game. If you haven't played Civ, this is a good starting point (it lacks some added elements available on other versions like on PC). Civ is the kind of game I'd love to give my daughter to try when she gets older because it does have some genuine educational value.

This works fine though many have reported slowdowns in the late game, though I don't think it's to the point that it would be considered game breaking. I would personally recommend that if you have an iPad that runs it, you may want to consider that because the larger the screen, the nicer the experience. the iPad is larger while still being portable. I have both but since getting the iPad version haven't touched my Switch version.

I don't have any copies of this game yet, but I am waiting for a sale on the iPad version since our family have several iPads. It would be easier to have a multiplayer session with my family this way.

Good call. I don't know if multiplayer will require the game to be associated with multiple accounts or if you need to associate them with one single account, but when I purchased it for iPad, I had waited for a while for a sale to pop up specifically for it and it was very inexpensive, only a few bucks. I don't know if there are good apps for monitoring price drops for iOS games but that is a good strategy for sure.

It was also free by Epic games in May and could resurface again in the future for the desktop version. Speaking of that, this week has the game Galactic Civ III which would be a good game for those of you interested in Civ like 4X games to pick up for $0!

This has been the price since Cyber Monday sales. It hasn't stopped being on sale since then. I am waiting for the bundle version with all the DLC. Just like Civ 5, the DLC's change the game mechanics a little bit.

Thanks I noticed over the weekend the price was 29$ which made me punt but now I have no excuse Smilie question is do I order from Amazon or try to go by Best Buy... I want to support Best Buy problem is it's out of my way :/

Def try not to support amazon. Their workers wanted to vote to unionize by mailin ballot. But bezos wouldn't allow it cause mail in isn't secure haha. On another note I picked this up for 6.99. Haven't figured it out yet, never played civ before.

The iPad/iOS version requires a full game unlock which is an in-app purchase and does NOT support family sharing. You can do pass-and-play multiplayer on a single device, though. Last time I tried you couldn't cloud save pass-and-play games, which was annoying because I wanted to move a save to PC/Mac version but currently don't have a way to do that.

I like the iPad version much better than the Switch version. It's not without it's flaws, though: iPad version doesn't seem to have a lot of the voice acting, though, which I miss. And graphics are a little pixelated and don't seem to take advantage of the retina display, but a non-issue.

I am assuming this is the same version as the iPad. I play it on the 12.9 iPad Pro and it runs great with some occasional slow downs late game. Wonder how well this would play on switch assuming the iPad Pro has more processing power.

Never played any of the civilization games before and just purchased a switch so I gave it a try. Definitely enjoyed it more than I expected. Couldn't put it down for a few days.
