However! I would like to note, the experience on PC with a big monitor and mouse, is simply better. The tradeoff being you sit there for hours and hours so to each their own.

It is for sure once you get further into the match. I kept choosing the smallest maps and would end up struggling after 100 turns or so.
That's what I figured. 2500 hours in civ 5, can't imagine doing it with a controller, let alone joycons/touchscreen. You need a mouse for this kind of game to move quickly/comfortably imo.
Beginning of the game is just fine for a controller. Later on when you need to move mutiple units is where the keyboard and mouse becomes extra handy. I still recommend the game on the Switch for those without a PC. Not much compared to others but I spent over 50 hours on it for the Switch and was worth the money for me.
EDIT: downvote me, it's fine. my feelings won't change.
I played it on the Switch when it first came out. I can confirm it is awful to control. Anyone who says otherwise is just willing to overlook it, which is fine, but no one should be saying it controls well, because it absolutely does not. I'm a console gamer and I love these games, but they were made for PC.
