how is this? I clearly need a backup nas as my readygearnas 104 died and i had to go the facebook market to find the readygear nas 314 in order to not lose my data
so now i clearly recognize i need 2 nas - one for use and one as backup of the other (even though i am using raid 5)
the older reviews worry me
">Loss of data when transferring. You need a 3rd party program to transfer files to not loose as much data."
"It worked for 2 month and died outside of return and replacement period. Not reliable."
"he more I use it, the more it stalls out. The more work you throw at it, the more it hangs up. "
not sure if it was a firmware issue or what, but think ill stay clear

That said, that more on a computer issue.
I been using my full time for over a few months, but owned it over a year while trying different NAS OSes on it.
I settle on OpenVault Media but hit limitations related to SMB recursive permissions not applying -eXecute permissions properly. I do see myself as more of poweruser so I hit limitations with bandwidth pretty quick but that's of a device/network limitation with me using as a VM storage, Steam Network Storage, and overall Share Storage. Usually bandwidth caps out around 933 Mbps which may be more of a hard drive issue, certain models had a fifth SATA slot and you could add a SSD cache or another hard drive for five drives, sadly mine was not.
But warned, if you want to have this device use ZFS, you won't be able to, max ram you can upgrade to a total of 4GB. OMV isn't the best idea for my configuration as I learnt. I do intent to get another set of EasyStore HHDs in the future and build a NAS with 10GBe and enough memory to support ZFS file system and iSCSI with TrueNAS in a RAID 6 configuration.
---
For the price, the stock OS seems pretty decent for just handing simple storage, archive and media. Thought obviously chinese, OS is fine for said roles.
If I was using it for it's actual role of simple network storage, archive and media, I likely would not have these issues.

By what you are describing I think you have the F4-220 not the 210. You said Memory upgrade and Different OS. This is not an x86 architecture chipset. the 210 uses a Realtec processor chip, and I don't think Memory nor OS changes are available for the 210 series.
