Hammer Drill:
Pros
Ability to drill through concrete / masonry / rock / stone / etc
Cons
A lot heavier and more bulky
Drill Without hammer feature:
Pros
Cheaper
Lighter
More compact
Less strain when drilling in awkward positions (hehe)
Cons
Very difficult to drill in many stone-like situations and sometimes near impossible
Takeaway: If you do not need hammer functionality and you can get the non-hammer drill function without other sacrifices (torque, speed, chuck type ie metal vs plastic) then by all means DO NOT get the hammer functionality. I've seen countless people get it yet never or only one or two times use the hammer functionality.
Reason I got DeWalts new hammer drill: It was part of a package, it had JUST came out, it has a really nice chuck for the price (this is very important) and I needed a new drill anyways. Also, I do plan on using it through both brick and mortar.
God-King setup: Corded hammer drill (if you need it) so this way it last the ages but also you save money being that its corded and then a very compact yet powerful drill. DeWalt is not only American owned (unlike brands like Milwuakee that sold out to Techtronic Industries based in China) but for a brand thats up there with Bosch, they also have very competitive pricing and a large product line of batteries that work from old to the latest and greatest. Even if you are a woodworker, you should want to get a compact drill over a heavy bulky hammer drill so you can get into tight corners and just have less fatigue.
The end.

It's a bare tool aka no battery.
Only tool no battery etc
Thanks. How much would a battery cost usually, so that I can get a ballpark for the tool
