Guess they are getting ready for 11th gen. At this price, it is pretty good value, considering it's only $ 50 more than 5600X (6C/12T but better for gamers with higher IPC) and same as 3800X (8C/16T, worse than 10850K pretty much on everything). Love the competition!
Just fixed it, sorry for confusion
Previous poster left out some important considerations. It was correctly stated that you would want a Z board (more specifically, a z490 motherboard), but it doesn't need to be from MSI. If you're ponying up for a K series intel chip, you really should pair it with a z490 board to get the most out of the CPU with at least overclocking RAM over 2666 speeds.

Now when it comes to motherboards, it's really mostly preference. The more you pay, the more features you get. If you're looking for budget, I just built a system on the MSI z490 A Pro which can be found for around $160 (e,g,best buy). I would avoid budget ASRock z490 boards as they're horrible on VRM temperatures and you'll experience CPU throttling (check hardware unboxed for budget z490 board overview on youtube). In general, you can't really go wrong with the big names (MSI, ASUS, Gigabyte).

EDIT: MSI Z490 A PRO was used for a 10600K. You're looking for a mobo with overclocking for a 10850K - you'll probably want to get a beefier motherboard if you're wanting to overclock the 10850K. Others can chime in with recommendations for a motherboard that won't choke on an overclocked 10850K, or you can also look up reviews online.

@$&#*!! Microcenter and their In-Store Only deals. OP, it would be helpful to note that in the title. I wouldn't have bothered looking since the nearest one is over 4 hrs away from me...

Which budget MOBO recommended? I'm not a serious gamer but I do music (DAW) on PC. I use 1070Ti video and RME audio card.

It really depends if you're gonna be overclocking or not. If yes, you need something like MSI Z series, if not, any midrange one would work

Thanks. At same price range, is there any difference ASUS vs MSI for overclocking ability?

I got it 2 days ago. Loving it!

This is the last time you going to see 10 core.

The 11th Gen is now 8 core.

Bc of competition from AMD to make Intel humble! Now AMD is over priced!

just FYI these Intel 10th gen CPUs don't have PCIe 4.0 only 11th gen and above will. Which will have better performance in future.
