yay! first response!! lol

so how would this compare to a gaming desktop? Ive never really thought of buying a laptop for gaming or editing (photo/video) but prices seem pretty close to a mid range gaming desktop now.

Specs seem comparable but are there any bottlenecks in a laptop that i'd need to worry about? The 5400 HD worries me a bit but other than that this seems decent.

Any help would be... helpful. Thanks
I've had extensive usage on this laptop thus far. The 1TB is a 5400rpm Western Digital so I immediately swapped it out for a 1TB SSD, sorry I could not provide any feedback on the performance of the included 1TB. As far as performance, I use it daily with Adobe Premiere/Photoshop and works smooth. I do alot of YouTube editing for my son with Adobe Premiere and the RTX 2060 encoding is supported. A+ games run easily at 1080P 60+ FPS, typically average 80-120fps, and some less intesive I get the full 144fps. Not much of a bottleneck anywhere.

Pros:
- Excellent features for the price.
- Excellent Performance

Cons:
- Battery life is pretty bad. If you wish to use it with power, it is OK. Doesn't last long on otherwise. For my usage, it lasts between 40 mins - 80 mins.
- Heating - With the powerful CPU and GPU, the heat generation is also high.
- A bit loud: With the all the fans to dissipate the heat, it could get a bit loud.

If you want a laptop with high specs with some portability or want something that is compact, go for it. If you are only looking for gaming, I would invest on a desktop.

I have had this for a month.

Not as fast as it should be.
Screen could be brighter
Keyboard layout is funky, and the number pad is shrunken
The SD reader is RIDICULOUSLY slow, like 28 MB/s with a 1667x card

Pretty nice screen image
Speakers are decently loud
The RGB keyboard is pretty cool
The fans are not super loud unless you are in gaming mode
Somewhat light for a 17" notebook

Can we expand memory to 64Gb?

Every CONS you stated above is absolutely normal with gaming laptops. A cooling pad (or a repaste) and a headphone would partially solve those those CONS

Given that there has been multiple RTX 2060 laptops in the $650 to $900 price range, this $1,100 price is disappointing for an RTX 2060 laptop.

Confused That would make sense if all 2060 laptop GPUs were the same, and the GPU was the only important part of a laptop. LMAO

The major difference is that this laptop is a higher tier rather than a budget unit... which is why the MSRP was higher to start with ($1749). Some things you won't find on the cheap 2060 models:

1) 17.3" premium display, >300nits, 3ms response, high contrast, good color accuracy.
2) 16GB ram, 512GB SSD, and a 1TB mech drive.
3) MaxP 2060
4) Premium audio, quad speakers with a subwoofer.
5) Multicolor backlit keyboard.

I heard it is a bad time to buy gaming desktop right now with the hugely overprice (and even out of stock) in graphic card and CPU, etc (?) I assume people are paying highend gaming desktop price for even mid range gaming desktop now?

Costco.com will gladly issue a credit for the difference between the price you paid and the promotional price, if your purchase was made online at Costco.com and was within 30 days prior to the change in price. Credits are typically issued within 3-5 business days. ... Costco does not price match with other retailers.
