I suspected it would be that video! FWIW, Steve walks back his opinion a bit in a video a week later:

One slight correction is all three sizes of biscuits (#0, #10, #20) are the same thickness, but overall great informative response! The Length and width are what get larger (not thicker or thinner). Since they are all the same thickness the same blade on the biscuit joiner can be used, just set to a difference depth into the board that it cuts to use different biscuit sizes. It is always best to use the largest biscuit that will fit your work.

I have this from a prior DTO sale. I find it to be more than sufficient for my hobbyist needs and would recommend it.

Nice, getting one! I was at the store yesterday and was looking at them but it was more expensive. What are the differences between the biscuits? I see #0, #10 and #20.

Got these answers from HD website:

# 20 biscuit is larger
# 10 smaller
When cutting the biscuit slot, use the biscuit which matches the slot or the project parts will not be aligned correctly

Thanks for your question on the RYOBI #20 FSC Wood Biscuits (100-Piece). The #20 biscuit Size: 15/16 in. x 2-9/32 in. and the #10 Size: 25/32 in. x 2-3/64 in. I hope this helps

The size. The #20 is 15/16" wide and 2 1/4" long , and the #10 is 25/32" wide by 2 3/64" long. So depending on how they'll be used, it's up to you. There's also a #0 that's even smaller. The dimensions are shown on almost any search result.

Biscuits come in 3 common sizes/lengths. #0 is smallest, then #10, then #20 is largest. The biscuit cutter tool can be adjusted to any of these settings, and you then insert that size biscuit. The longer the joint, the larger size biscuit you should use.

The difference is the size of the biscuit. WIth 0 being the smallest of those and 20 the biggest.

These are great biscuit joiners and this is a great deal. Just make sure the first thing you do is check the alignment since it's not adjustable and is a common manufacturing defect that presents itself in biscuit joiners; would require replacement.

Good video. Once I pick this up I'll have both. For $45 I can see using both for different situations.

One doesn't necessarily replace the other. Generally speaking a biscuit is not used to add strength to a joint and is used in conjunction with wood glue.

Does a pocket hole jig give more strength than a biscuit in case of edge to edge (building a countertop with multiple 6" wide boards)? In the video referenced it was more just mentioned that it wasn't worth the cost since other tools/methods could do the same thing. and that edge to edge the glue was strong enough and the biscuit doesn't add any significant strength.
