The other option is to be sold out instantly meaning very few people will be able to get their hands on one for testing. This allows people to try them out and decide to wait until they're better stocked rather than going with a competitor. From a marketing standpoint, one per account is absolutely better.

It's a different beast. Eufy and Wyze have a broader appeal. Plug it in and it works. Buy their cloud service and have a recording of what has happened for a few weeks.

Ubiquiti is for the person who wants to control that themselves and maybe does not trust the cloud or wants to keep recording longer. You configure, control, and host the video storage locally on a separate box-dum/udm pro/etc.

Already bought the one I'm allowed, but this is a great WiFi (only) camera for the price if you already run UniFi Protect.

Ubiquiti in general is nice prosumer networking equipment. The unifi protect line of cameras and app still seem a little bit new. I set up a full unifi network at my brother's clinic using a dream machine pro. I tossed a purple wd hard drive in and added the unified protect cameras with was super easy. Works fine for their needs.

edited, apparently you can use them with other software after enabling rtsp

Worth noting it's not 1 per order, it's 1 per account total. Probably why they are still in stock. It's a good camera for the price.

No, not to my knowledge. All of the unifi cameras stuff is for their own ecosystem.

All of the cameras have RTSP streams that you can activate, which I assume would allow you to use them with other systems, but you'd still need to run Unifi Protect to activate the stream.

That's what I was wondering. Searched all of their documentation and only found a reference to Operating Humidity - 0 to 90% Noncondensing. I guess it's assumed that it wouldn't hold up to any rain?
