I purchased a pan at the physical factory 2nds sale (when they still had them). Noticed when I got home that the 'helper handle' rivets were very loose. Called their CS number...they not only replaced it, but the replacement was in a retail box and it had a lid (which the original did not).

In my experience...they do honor the warranty.
I ordered a bunch of copper core package damage items last year and the copper came all weird. It didn't budge with just scrubbing with plain soap and water, but bar keepers friend cleared it up with a few scrubs.
This seems to come up pretty often. Try gripping it by placing your palm underneath so your fingertips go in the groove. It makes sense if you grab it that way.

just bit the bullet and bought a bunch of copper core stuff since I've been in the market. Read some mixed reviews on the site, so we'll see how this goes. thanks for posting.

Love the cooking surface and materials used....hate, despise and loath the handles. Will never buy another All-Clad with the absurd angled handles. Be warned, if you have small hands and or are of small stature in strength, you will hate these handles as I do.

What does second quality imply - that it has some minor factory defects?

don't buy. I bought it last time, spent over $500, they didn't last a year. I bought induction and many of them didn't end up being completely flat, making it a waste of power and slow heating. IMO stay away from this

Typically, yes...minor...or possibly nothing wrong at all. I've been buying at these 2nds sales for 10+ yrs and never had anything that looked 'defective'...and certainly nothing that will impede the usage & performance.

Usually it starts a day or so prior to the Sale date. They do replenish sometimes...so check back.

If it was slightly domed in the center, that may be by design. Many quality stainless clad pans are built with a (very) slight dome that is meant to flatten as the metal expands during heating. About slow heating, I've noticed that with stainless on radiant electric stoves as well, but I don't think it has anything with the brand; rather the color of the pan. If you experienced slow heating on gas or induction, however; I'm stumped.
What did you mean when you said they didn't last a year? Did they warp or did the rivets come loose?

Copper will readily patina. You have to use Barkeeper's friend powder or some other copper polishing product regularly to remove the patina. Dish soap is not abrasive and will not remove patina.
