I have 5 lines using the $7 plan (1gb , 100 min, unlimited text) using the referral dollars and have no issue with them.

No, you can try. My 10y.o. son using it about 6 month and had no problems at all. And you can choose T-Mobile or AT&T cellular net when ordering a sim card.
Try for $60 vs try for $3.50?

So what GSM network? ATT or T-mobile. I won't use T-mobile towers but if it's AT&T I'm in.

Cost more and if coverage sucks, you are out $60
You can try Tello for Unlimited Text + 100 Talk Minutes + 1GB Data Plan $3.50/month for the First 3 Months (then $7/mo. to continue) then down grade after 3 months to 100 mins 1gb or 500mb

and don't forget referral for extra $10!
I've been using Red pocket for a year on AT&T towers and it's been excellent. $20 a month for 3gb. This Tello deal would give me an extra gb a month but I don't know if it's worth making a switch when I'm happy with what I have

I bought a Red Pocket Mobile for my son for only $60/year. Not just for 3 month. Link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/5-Mo-Red...890.l49292
No slow data after you run out though.

how do I know if they sent me a cdma or gsm sim?

I ordered a sim for a new phone about a month or so ago.
The GSM SIM has an 8 digit PUK code for activation and a large Tello logo. When activating a Sprint SIM, you use the longer ICCID number. I ordered my free GSM card on an active Tello account on Jan. 19. I think that was one of the first days it was offered.

I am using T-Mobile SIM with MNC 260 [wikipedia.org] on Tello and it works. Could you or anyone else please ask Tello what is the MNC on their SIM cards?
I have a SIM card received from Tello that I have not activated yet. The ICCID starts with 8901 240, so I guess that means the MNC is 240. Does your SIM also have the 8 digit PUK code for activation on Tello's website?

I know one of my Tello phones is a Iphone 6 with a Old School Sprint Sim I bought from a 5 sim kit off Amazon.. Tello is going to send me a new sim at some point?
If you want to switch now, you can order a free GSM SIM through your account. Or if you are happy with the Sprint coverage, you can wait until they tell you that you have to migrate.

Go to My Tello > My Phone > Bring a new phone.
Then enter your current IMEI (or a different IMEI if you plan to use a different phone).
Select "No, I need one - $9.99" when the page asks you if you have a SIM.
Then click on continue, which will take you to the checkout page where you can finalize the order. The $9.99 will come off on the final page. It defaulted to a paid shipping option, but I was able to change to free shipping.

Tello now uses TMobile. Tello was using Sprint, but TMobile bought Sprint, which is why Tello has now changed to TMobile (Sprint is being shut down).

Any news when Tello is going to expand to the T-Mobile network? I know they are owned by T-mobile already, but they are still only using Sprint's coverage, I believe, which is pretty terrible. Last I heard was just sometime in 2021 when they will get the benefits of T-mobile's coverage. Also I think I'll have to get a new sim card when that happens?

The new Tello GSM (TMobile) sim is NOT phone specific. It can go it any phone (as long as the phone works on TMobile) and you can move it from phone to phone. It's "triple cut" so you pop out the size of sim you need. Keep the original card in case you need a different size sim (unlikely). Sprint had phone-specific sims was a pain, but those days are over.

Tello is NOT owned by TMobile, but now uses TMobile instead of Sprint for coverage. New customers now get Tello sims that connect to TMobile. Existing customers with Sprint sims can get free replacement new Tello GSM (TMobile) sims now to switch over, and should switch by mid year since Sprint towers are being converted into TMobile towers. The old Sprint sim cards and the new Tello GSM sim cards are different. You will need the new sim card.

Tello is not owned by Tmobile they run on Sprint and now the Tmobile network. The Tmobile transition is complete and you can no longer purchase a Sprint sim. All current Sprint based customers will get a Tmobile SIM in the next few months.
