Did they fix the cooling on these? I returned a previous i7 for an i5 because the fan on the i7 was on 100%

Ordered NUC8i7BEH from Amazon $240 from the OEM XS Inc. The advertised condition is like new, however, I am surprised to see the brand new unopened box today.

I doubt this will boost that high for more than a few seconds at a time in this format factor.

Review says it throttles to 3Ghz under CPU load, and 2Ghz with GPU & CPU load. Although, most people won't have it maxed out, so you can probably achieve good performance under partial CPU load conditions.

That's not how processors work. You can't compare clock rates for different processor families.

Get the NUC8i7BEH. That processor is faster than pretty much anything else in this form factor or larger. Change the fan curve a bit and it is rock solid with thunderbolt 3 for external gpu if you need horsepower for gaming or productivity.

You are comparing apples to oranges. A phone processor carries out less instructions per cycle than intel's core i processors. That's why phones don't need fans.

This seems a bit overkill for Plex. I'm running mine on a C2D.
