Absolute doo doo.
Acmetools 389$+ 10% off.
cpooutlet is 15% off 389$
No, not a "doo doo" deal. The link from the OP comes with FOUR batteries. I owned one of the rear handled versions of this saw for a while. You CERTAINLY need four batteries at the minimum.
Per this saw, they're quite good and close to a replacement for a smaller gasoline saw. This top handled unit is aimed at the arborist market and doesn't go on sale very often. However at this price range you are into professional saws such as the Echo 2511t which is literally half the weight with more power. I own one of those and compared it to the rear handled 36v Makita and it was better in almost every way other than noise. I sold the makita.

Yes 4 batteries. I double checked the difference. the 389$ is 14 inch/side handle and this one is 16 inch/top handle.
Same amount of batteries (4ct). but I know the 389$ gets 15% off.
Isn't the Echo 2511t a 12in saw? The Makita is 16in
The 2511t comes with either a 12 or 14" bar. I run a 12 on it and the balance is incredible.
It seriously feels like you have a chainsaw instead of a hand. Using it one handed feels oddly safer than any other saw I've used. I use it basically daily to thin the woods on our large acreage. I have many, many saws, but its the one I grab first now.
This Makita comes with a 16" bar but really has no reason to other than to look cool. Given my experience with the rear handled version that was in 14", it really doesn't have the grunt to bury that size of a bar. Maybe in a soft pine it would be fine, but hardwood, not a chance.

So, not the same saw?

Good info.
Any chance that the Echo batteries will work in cordless tools other than Echo?
I'm not on any battery platform yet but I'm going to have to get impacts, a grinder, and a chain saw, very soon.
At one point, I was leaning to a corded version of a chain saw, since I don't have a bunch of trees to trim.
