One thing I noticed on the fine print was that the oil sold in packs do not qualify for the rebate.

Thanks for the warning.

Similarly, my son told me that the COVID vaccine has a microchip in it so the government will be able to track us and control our brains even more than they already do. Not going to do that one either. Whew.

Now have to buy 2 of the 5quarts to receive gift card. Not as slick as it once was.

OP should change post to BOGO. This is not anywhere near a Free Offer. Not going to find 10 quarts anywhere for $22.

The Rotella gas Truck? That's a better deal. Basically free oil.
True...if you actually get the rebate. lots of ppl commenting it's hit or miss so kinda risky for my liking...

But looking more closely at this deal, I don't see any store price that would make this "free", so not so keen on this anymore.

$10 each for Pennzoil Platinum 0W-20 Synthetic 5 quart if you buy the 3-Pack. No rebate needed. Slightly cheaper per 5 quart than with the rebate if you don't mind having an extra.

Edit: Priced wrong when added to cart. Was corrected via chat.

Now that's cheap

Agree with the comments that I still have my gc from the last deal! I didn't realize there's no Shell around me or that it wasn't able to be used anywhere else...anyone have tips on how to spend it?

Otherwise it will live in my wallet until we go on a roadtrip...
Can I buy your GC for 11$?

Careful with this purchase. Saw this deal a while back with the same rebate, bought and turned in my rebate form, ensuring that everything was exactly as instructed, knowing that rebates can be very finicky. Then alas, they told me the rebate didn't qualify for some reason.

I personally returned it, but I'm sure people at this point would say "Eh screw it, I already have it, might as well bite the purchase".
Exactly what happened to me. They didnt give me enough information to know WHY my rebate didn't go through, and I had mailed in the receipt so I couldn't really return it without a hassle so I just called it an oil change with a slightly higher oil price. Really peeved me.

But I guess we can't get the rebate because it's it's 3 pack?

"Case purchases of qualifying product in any pack size do not qualify for this offer."

Would this work if you bought 2 of these 5-qt + Scott shop towel bundles:

https://www.walmart.com/nco/Pennz...e/47217503

It's the same price as just a 5-qt jug of the same oil so you get the towels for free.

Btw, I'm debating whether to put high mileage synth oil in my 28 year old car that has under 78k miles on it and barely any oil leaks. Would that damage otherwise good seals? I heard it might, and that I'm better off sticking with non-high mileage synth and just replacing seals as routine maintenance or when doing other things like replacing the timing belt or clutch.

I've been told by several mechanics, both at dealerships and independent shops, to stay away from Shell and BP gas. They put additives in the gas making it worse for your car.

They all have said basically the same thing- that when engine testing is conducted by manufacturers they use generic gasoline, nothing special like "gas with invigorate" or anything like that. When you start adding that stuff into your engine it's not designed to work with it long term.
Funny, those are the only 2 gas stations I ever use. I've had better luck with BP than Shell. But don't all gas companies add additives like detergents and injector cleaners?

Possibly- apparently the information I've heard is either untrue or arguable...as there's been a lot of negative comments replied (not yours, but others). So it could be unfounded information I've received over the years.

There's also this $10 off 5-qt rebate, but you have to buy it at a local store based on your zip, and there were none near me:

I've been filling up my 2010 Kia Rio LX with nothing but Shell 87 for well over a year now to use the 10 cent off TMobile Tuesday offer plus an additional 5 cents off Fuel Rewards and it's been having issues while idling in drive, like at a red light, kind of a knocking effect. No way to tell if it's the fuel or the car, though, which has nearly 160k miles on it. Also not getting the greatest mpg, around 20 in mostly city driving. Very anecdotal and conclusive of nothing.

I can't believe how many people are complaining that it's not basically free oil, when at $11 per high quality synth oil this is absolutely a deal.

2 x $22 - $22 = $11/5qt is not a deal, even with tax bringing it up a tad?!?

It's not bad. Costco brand is going for this price, but you have to do a rebate here, and it's a Shell GC, which means it is only good at a Shell location and their gas tends to be about 5%-10% more expensive than elsewhere, so in reality, it's more like a $20 GC not a $22.

If you can get the Ultra Platinum for $22x2, then it's probably worth it.
