But there's a lot of cases for folks who don't fall into that target, and even some who do for whom it still isn't practical - e.g. I have good Internet, but have several kids I usually play games at home with simultaneously, and one stream seems to work fine but I dont want to try 3 or 4 simultaneously.
On top of this is all the issues that people have already observed elsewhere, with what feels like game companies steadily eroding the concept of what owning a game means. People who care strongly about such things will likely never be a target for Stadia or Geforce Now and the industry isn't helping.
But live service always-on games are a pretty popular thing nowadays, so I can see the benefit fora specific set of folks. We will see what happens in the long run regarding Internet - especially if data caps continue to be foisted on users it seems dicey.

More than that, the scary thing about Stadia etc - if it somehow ever overtakes Steam - is that everything is on their servers. I don't think it'll ever overtake it though, because internet infrastructure is just a joke honestly... and many people just won't have the internet speeds/stability for it to be viable.
I will say though that this sale seems decent. I'm just not sure I would buy any multiplayer games, considering the above mentioned issue of crossplatform being a problem. Like Hitman might be a decent game to get here, considering the cost. Not sure if the games will be hosted as long as Steam though...
I also want to say, in Stadia's favor, that something like Stadia would be one of the best things for anti-cheat. Can't really modify the game files as well if it's all streamed to you, I'd think... but maybe they could still figure out a way. I guess at the least, there will always be things like modded controllers that give macros and other slight advantages.
Either way, I'm happy for more competition. It's a shame that Stadia doesn't seem to be doing as well as they hoped, and that crossplatform multiplayer play is lacking for at least some games
Besides, Cloud Gaming works today, but it's going to excel tomorrow. Give it 5 - 10 years and there will be no discernible difference to the average gamer between playing locally and streaming.

"The Internet"?
I live in Silicon Valley and the difficulty in finding what is almost inexistent high-speed internet is appalling. I don't even have access to Gigabit and I work for an enormous tech company and am less than 15 min drive from Apple, Google, Facebook.
The strangehold that these cable companies have over this area is incredible and their continued apathy toward upgrading is apparent.
Yes. Wouldn't touch it.
-- Try it. The huge benefit that so many seem to overlook is that you can get start playing a top game today small initial cost; under $100 if you need a controller (your existing X-Box or generic controller will work on a PC
-- Stadia generally works great. If you have over 15 mbps, you are fine. Many coffee houses have that. From a streaming perspective, the overall impression I and my peer group have is is "this works amazingly well!". Once a session, my screen might freeze-frame for .25 seconds, or got into a 1-sec slow-motion...but its not that big of a deal, and its not that frequent.
-- The convenience is astounding; I can play a AAA title from my crappy work laptop. I start a game of Madden at home on my TV, and finish in the afternoon on my work PC. Seamlessly.
-- The game library is small, and the user base is small.
-- There are limited local (same-room) multiplayer games for it (though there are some), but the tech works. A purchased game will be available to your google family, but only 1 person can play it at a time (e.g. my daughter and I cannot play Madden 21 on different screens at the same time).
-- Stadia reddit forum was sent in a dither because Google killed the game dev team. They assume this means the eventual death of the platform. Only the great G knows, but I do not think that's a safe assumption.
Google has not rolled Stadia out well. But in my experience, the platform changes the flexibility of the gaming dynamic in ways that are not fully captured as folks make a comparison to a $400 console purchase. The ability to play anywhere with a decent internet connection, anytime, is fantastic. And the ability to dive in without buying hardly any hardware is incredible.
Reminds me of buying an electric car; I bought an electric car a year ago, and had done a ton of research ahead of that purchase. I put together spreadsheets on out-of-state trip times to understand how much added charging time would be needed, and how painful it would be going out of my way to charge. And its true that occasionally the electric vehicle makes a long trip longer. But looking back, I did not fully understand at the time was the day to day convenience of having a vehicle with a "full tank" (charge) ready for me every morning; that has made the experience overwhelmingly positive. I feel the same way about Stadia, once experienced my reaction has been "this is how it should work".
