The 2 ethernet ports are for link aggregation and will not let you connect 2 different client devices. You will need a router for that. However you can connect 1 pc directly to this modem. Here's more info on link aggregation. https://www.pcgamer.com/what-is-l...r-network/
Keep in mind the next generation modems are coming out. I picked up the Arris S33 (in short supply, but Best Buy seems to be first stocked), and it rocks. It shows up briefly on Amazon and sells out ( https://www.amazon.com/ARRIS-Surf...B08FMSC5WZ ). No point in buying the SB8200 at this point, and although you'll save $40 with the CM1100, I think I'd upgrade to the newest models with the new Broadcom chipset.

EDIT: Corrected model no. thanks Slick_Kevin
Combos are never recommended.

I just upgraded to gigabit and the Netgear CM600 isn't having any of it, so I'm in for one. I like that it has 2 1gb ethernet ports so you can hardwire your gaming PC directly in and shave off a few ms of latency.

Same model is $179 [amazon.com] on Amazon right now, with the comparable ARRIS SURFboard SB8200 at $149 [amazon.com]

Product page. Costco is the only listed retailer.

I bought this the last time Costco had it on sale because the free Spectrum-issued cable modem would drop our Internet connection every 2-3 days or so. The CM1100 died exactly one month past the warranty period so luckily I returned it to Costco for a refund. While it seemed to work fine for us until it didn't, it sure seems like there are a lot of individuals having issues with it. The latest reviews on Amazon tell a story and when there are almost 100 of them available used via Amazon warehouse even more so. I actually ended up buying a used DOCSIS 3.1 modem off of Ebay for $80 and it has been going strong for the last two years (knocking on wood now lol)....

Typo - Should be S33. That modem and the Motorola MB8611 and Netgear CM2000 all have a 2.5 GB port for connection to your WiFi router. It is my understanding that a single 2.5 GB port is better than bonding together 1GB ports even if you have a modem with 4 of them (e.g., the Netgear CM1200)

That notwithstanding, this is a very good price for this unit.

I had major drops on this modem, and the provider would not help since its not their equipment. I had to replace it. So yes, going through Costco is a good insurance.

Weird, I bought this modem from costco and it's been almost 2 years with no issues or drops. I have Xfinity and their 1gig speed. No issues ever encountered on my end.

Why would I need my own modem using Spectrum?
Just sharing an opinion but if you rely upon Internet for work like I do it is a great, inexpensive insurance policy while waiting for Spectrum to troubleshoot and/or send out a repair person. You can self-service swap out the cable modem with absolutely no assistance needed from Spectrum. Additionally, if you are having intermittent and/or random issues it is a great troubleshooting step to rule out if the modem is bad. Once confirmed, you get to continue having Internet service while awaiting the scheduled repair/replacement for your "spare". In my case, the Spectrum modem was losing connectivity every 2-3 days and had to be rebooted to fix. Not sure if it was limping along but the replacement modem I put in definitely sped up our Internet.

Any benefit to this if I'm currently on Spectrum 200/10 Mbps plan? And getting my full bandwidth (~230/11)

Obviously, I'm not expecting a bump in speed from a modem built for 1Gb+... but anything else it could do for me?

I mean really, I have a CM600 which has been working well for the last two years. But due to some issues I was having (that have since been resolved). I was considering a new modem.. Figured I might as well go 3.1 for the future, but not sure if it would have any present day benefits.

Thanks

I wouldn't upgrade now if it does you no good. Might as well wait until you have to upgrade and get the latest and greatest then which could supersede this one

In California Frontier can't charge a $10 fee for a router, I called and they said I would have to return the router/modem they provided and I would have to get my own modem.

Does anyone know if this would work with Frontier?
