Too many variables to consider, such as:

1) Speed of service
2) Distance of device from node
3) Max transmit rate from node to device

If you're using a WiFi 5 device, and you have a WiFi 5 mesh system, it could be just as fast or faster. WiFi 6 devices will connect to a WiFi 6 router like this at a higher transmit rate, but depending on the distance from node to device, overall throughput could be lower than if it was connected to a closer WiFi 5 mesh node.

But if you have a WiFi 6 mesh system, that rules above all at this point in time. You get max coverage and max transmit rates. Hopefully you have at least Gigabit service from your ISP to take advantage of it, because you'll be ISP limited at anything 500Mbps or less (that's where WiFi 5 systems max out).

Meh, still waiting for 10gbE ports.. it's about time already.. before ethernet gets supplanted by other wired standards such as fiber, hdmi or usb.

any particular reason this looks like a stealth bomber with folded wings?
vs the other type with 4-8 or more antennas sticking up?

Currently using a tplink a2300
but it never gets updates and I wouldnt mind ditching the garage WAP.

my house is only 1200sq ft but internet is on second floor of a colonial with triangle on box type construction.. ie odd walls around it.

Current router does ok except at about a 45degree angle to my back deck.. So I would consider mesh.. but I torrent alot and dont want a router that chokes. Have about 20 devices on network.

Considering this one, mesh, full on PC router such as PFsense with 2 WAPs etc.

Internet is spectrum 440/22
Did you see, new PFsense? Good news

Good deal, but when will these routers have 2.5gbe wired ports? Sigh.
From what i seen only few AX routers with extra single 2.5gbps ethernet port for WAN or LAN.

The new AX11000 have 2.5gbe. They come out March or April. The 6 ghz band has not been fully rolled out yet tho. Not like devices other then Intel AX 210 can do anything with it anyways.
You need multi 2.5gbe if want to run network and computers over gigabit limits. Most new routers only have single 2.5gbe port rest still gigabit.

Archer AX206 is not out yet but it has

1× 10 Gbps SFP+ WAN/LAN Port
1× 10 Gbps WAN/LAN Port
1× 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN Port
4× Gigabit Ports

no I dabbled in it previously. and actually still have a server box.. but it might not be sufficient for 500Mbit
previously I had 60Mbit.

Are you talking 12.2?

Costco also has TP-Link Archer C4000 Wireless AC4000 MU-MIMO Tri-Band Router.

What is the difference between these two routers?
They are all tri-band and I considering buying the cheaper one unless there is any significant improvement.

The RAX80 gets pretty good reviews so this must be similar - it's tempting. But tough to pull trigger when the pretty comparable Asus RT-AX86U is regular price $250, especially since I have a bunch of other AI Mesh-compatible routers running already. Tough choice!
That's where I went. Already had the Asus Spider, 5300, added the AX. Mesh is easy to set up. Great coverage, to the street.

This or tplink 11000x at Costco? $100 difference. Any recommendation which one might work better for 1gbps fiber connection and 4500 sq ft, 2 story house?

Gonna wait for 6E to go down in price. 6 is good, but doesn't warrant an upgrade from a good 5 router.
You are going to wait a long time and It may turn out 6E is not any better than 6, just like AX is not necessary better than AC. 6GHz's range and ability to go through wall is even worse than 5GHz.

The signal blockage makes sense, but my router is very close to my PC, so that shouldn't really be a problem for me. I have a Nighthawk x4s and it supports all my devices pretty well. It probably has another good year or two left in it's life.

The main reason I was looking into wifi 6 was maybe to improve my Oculus Quest 2 to PC wireless link via virtual pc, but I heard it doesn't make a noticeable difference. So I'm good with 260mb/s at 5ghz for now.

This router is hot garbage and netgear's products won't last much past their warranty.

I have their previous model, RAX75. I had two problems; first, the password error, the 2.4ghz would not reconnect after a few days, even if the password you entered is correct. Rebooting the router fixed the problem temporarily, but it would come back a few days later. Some people had success is solving the issue by disabling the "smart connect" feature, but I never had it on, and ultimately my fix was changing the security from wpa3/wpa2 to wpa2.

Second issue was a few months in, the 5ghz band would just disappear all of a sudden, rebooting fixed it temporarily, but about two weeks later the same issue. I changed the 5ghz channel from 48 to 120+ (can't remember the exact #), and that fixed the problem. It has been pretty solid for the past few months.

Had it, lasted about 1.5years before Wi-Fi capped out. Other than that worked well enough for me, my only complaints are very few updates - and if you're doing anything moderately advanced the firmware is awkward (such as using a separate box as a DNS, having a other box handle DHCP).

Main difference that would be worth considering is the c4000 is Wi-Fi 5 this is Wi-Fi 6. The throughput through this model is also faster though both are quick and I haven't noticed a difference in actual performance.
