I have a 440 which is an older model of the 540 listed here.
Basically the same thing and a great vacuum.
I was going to buy a 540 to have an extra until i saw return policy.
They make you pay to ship item back.
It would probably cost as much to ship this back as it costs.
If you get a defective vacuum your screwed.

I bought a refurbished 540 from Groupon a few years ago. It just had a few scuffs but has otherwise worked great for 3+ years and still going strong. The best part is that the hose doesn't get clogged with pet hair. Replacement filters are cheap on Amazon too. Definitely recommend it!

Orderd the P50. Figured its worth the bet for a factory refurbished Shark cordless vacuum.. especially when its cheaper than all the money I've spent in replacement parts on my 3 year old Dyson V8. Meanwhile my 8 year old Shark Navigator Lift Away is still going strong.

Love the convenience of the Dyson cordless. But need the reliability and robust build quality of the Shark. Hopefully the P50 is the is the perfect combination.. even if it is a bit heavier cordless.

Shark is trash. My vacuum died, and it's less than three years old. You call them up, they walk you through troubleshooting it, make you do a video chat, etc., only to confirm it is actually broken. They then tell you it needs replacement parts that costs $90 after tax/shipping. When you ask what about their alleged 7 year warranty, they tell you it covers something else beside your issue/part. Never buying from this crap, wannabe Dyson company again.

I got one some time back from Newegg (?) and it was filthy. I sent it back. Then, I got another one that was in perfect condition. Gave that one to my brother. So, it's a crap shoot.

Can anyone comment on 540 vs 550? Is the $5 worth it?
They seem to be slightly different - the 540 has the extension wand and the 550 has the pet hair attachment - I got the 540 for the extension wand - take a look at the pictures accompanying each listing.

Dyson is what.....$300? Room as can be that much too. All of them lose some effectiveness over time....and get dirty. I like getting a new vacuum every 3-4 years if I need to....so $60-100 is a great price range if it has a motorized beater bar and plenty of power.

I picked up a scratch and dent shark lift away from woot several years ago. Not only is it still going strong, it works as well or better than any Dyson I've ever had. My only gripe about it is the dust bin capacity is to small for the shedding output of my six dogs (including one Husky... and I'm in Georgia). It fills nearly instantly and if a bit hard to empty. I'd pay double for the same vac with 3x the capacity, but Shark doesn't offer that information readily. I'd really love a similarly powered easy handling vac with about 5 gallon capacity!

Don't forget to register your product immediate on the CPS warranty site.. My refurb deebot stopped working and I reached out to them for warranty. They refunded me by check for the purchase price, within a week.

Shark products are *literally* engineered to break after a set time. I had a Shark vacuum several years back, and it broke. I took it apart instead of just throwing it away. The whole vacuum had become worthless because a little plastic gear had been molded with a lot of gaps that would fail once the plastic aged and became a little brittle. This wasn't some sort of "Oh, they just did that to save money by not using as much plastic", no, someone spent an engineer's extra time on this specific gear to make it fail when the plastic aged enough. The design of the gear was serious engineering prowess.

Unless you like buying the latest and greatest Shark vacuums every few years, keep away from this trash company.

Planned obsolescence is a plague that we are feeding with our wallets.

Ordered the p50. I have piece of mind ordering a factory refurbished one than what Woot was offering. One year warranty included is nice and almost makes up the difference from Woot's pricing.

Thanks OP!

Does the UV540 and UV550 have the same filters? I searched on Amazon and every filter/sponge just says UV540 but not UV550... Also the other difference is the cord length with UV550 being longer?

Can anyone comment on this refurbished 540 vs a new nv351wm2? Walmart near me has the 351 for $79 according to brickseek. I cant figure out the differences. Any ideas?

Which is better for all hardwood besides 1 rug, the SV110 from Walmart that's at 80, or the P50 here for 130? Is it worth the extra to buy this refurb?

We recently tried the NV751 with the powered lift away, and that was a major selling point for us. After trying it out, it is more of a gimmick which sounds good on paper. In reality, the flexible hose retracts and tips the lift away unit over. This was noticeable when trying to vacuum under beds and on the stairs. The thing just flipped itself over and rolled down the stairs. Hope this helps someone out
