Not the cheapest its been but pretty close at $300 off.

Seems pretty good for an 11th gen i7, 1tb SSD + 32 gb optane drive and OLED 3000x2000 screen.

Wait, optane AND an SSD? I thought optane was to give SSD-like performance to HDDs?

Edit: can it be removed to add a second SSD or is everything soldered?

What is this nonsense of Amazon Alexa built in? Is this software or is the laptop gonna respond even when it's off to voice prompts?

Haven't been able to verify it, but have read that on this model the OLED screen changes its brightness with PWM, which can cause headaches for some folks. Otherwise looks like a nice machine.

That "Optane" part is what's holding this back.

Worst case scenario, ya just disable the optane in the bios. Maybe it's a combo nvme with optane to speed up subpar storage chips.

Bought an Open Box 6 weeks back for just over a grand.

I worry a little about OLED burn-in, but admittedly, the screen is gorgeous and worth the risk.

Its KB and trackpad is top notch. Build quality is fantastic.

It had a BT mouse stutter issue (as do most 11th gen Intel laptops), but its fixed now with a simple registry edit.

This Spectre is very pricey, but the 3:2 OLED alone is amazing.

I tried a Lenove 13s G2 for $730 and was going to pony up for a $1200 Dell XPS, but honestly...the HP is better at almost everything. (The XPS does hit 500 nits vs HP's 400)

If you don't care about fit/finish and the best display though, just buy a Ryzen for half the price.

Optane is faster than QLC SSDs, so it still speeds up the computer. They are both on the same M.2 module, so you could remove it and replace it with a regular M.2 SSD if you really want to.

If you want more info, google "Optane Memory H10." I don't know if that's the actual module used in this laptop but it should be the same technology..

For the same price I would choose the 15" version thru Microsoft Store. Better graphics but smaller hard drive.

That looks like it has a 10th gen intel processor vs the 11th gen too.

The x360 14 is 0.7 lb lighter. Lightweight laptops always cost more than a heavier one with the same specs. Also, the 14 has a 16:10 display, *and* it's an OLED display.

Its 3:2, not 16:10. Square-er, like the Surface.

3:2 works great for general browsing and when used in portrait mode as a tablet. I also prefer it for Office app and Photshop use although some like a wider aspect ratio for Excel (eg. do you prefer seeing more rows or more columns?). As an aside, 16:9 in tablet portrait mode is just bad.

On the flip side (no pun intended), 3:2 is pretty poor if your primary use is watching videos or basic gaming. You just get fat black bars. 16:9 is definitely best for that type of consumption.

16:10 is the compromise of the bunch...a jack of all trades, master of none, so to speak.

The only reason it is lighter is because it has 13.5" display vs. a 15.6" display so obviously it is a smaller laptop. Both screens have the same specs other than aspect ratio. The processor in the 15" is only 3 months older but runs 13% faster (speed rank of 97) than the 13" (speed rank of 231). I would always rather buy something from Microsoft with their 30 return policy instead of Best Buys 15 day return.

You can't just make a laptop smaller by putting a smaller screen on it. Shedding 0.7 lb takes a lot of engineering to miniaturize the rest of the laptop. Also a 13.5" 3:2 display is pretty much the same height as a 15.6" 16:9 display, it's just a little less wide.

But if that extra lightness or the extreme contrast of an OLED panel are less important to you than a bit of extra processor speed then yes, of course you should choose the 15.6" model.

Thank you for the correction. Even better! For most productivity work, the height of the screen is much more important than the width. It means more lines of text displayed, more rows of spreadsheet, more lines of code. It means a powerpoint slide can fill up the whole width of the screen and you still have room at the top for the menu / toolbar. It's better for web browsing as well.
