Sigma 30mm F1.4 Contemporary DC DN Lens for Sony E $260

This is my first post ever and I have no idea if I did this correctly. But I've been tracking this lens and saw it went under $260 on Amazon. It went as low as $230 on Adorama last year, but I think $260 is still a pretty good price for anyone who's had their eye on this lens.

Could anyone chime in regarding their experiences with this lens ? So far I see people having issues with auto focus and chromatic aberration ...

Are you sure those reviews were for this lens? The Sigma f1.4 trio, the 16mm, 30mm, and 56mm are generally considered some of the best, must-have lenses for Sony apsc cameras. Excellent quality and performance. Go to any Sony forums and people rave about them.

Need the 16mm to drop back down. That's the best of the trio on APS-C cameras.

I have the 30 mm for my A6100. Bought it originally for my A6000. I have had zero issues with the lens. It takes great pics and if I was stuck with only one lens it would be a great choice.

That being said I hardly ever use the lens. The 16 mm Sigma is fantastic and works great both inside and for landscapes so stays on the camera most of the time. If I am shooting portraits then I usually grab my 50mm Sony lens. I hear the 58 mm Sigma is fantastic too but can't really justify the money to upgrade from the Sony lens.

Thanks for the info ! As I read more, it seems like this lens is more geared towards apsc. For my a7iii, I would need to reduce the crop size. I will pass.

It seems like this lens is more for apsc not for full frame like a7iii. I don't wanna compromise but thanks for the info !

I use this lens on a daily basis with my a6500 for web video conferencing. It's basically perfect. I get so many compliments on asking what camera I'm using because it looks like a broadcast studio setup lol. I simply use an elgato cam link to connect the HDMI out on the Sony to the computer and trick the software into thinking it's a USB webcam.

is this a good primary for an a7iii? I'm coming from a Canon EOS R/35mm (Canon) primary that I loved.

I love the sigma f1.4 16mm and 30mm. I've used them for years now. I mostly stick with the 16mm on my Sony a6000 and a6600 because i do vlogs and take photos of cars. if you want to do portraits the 30mm is good. it's very sharp. lots of really good youtube reviews of these lens that you can watch rather then depend on the comments of SD. i would say it's a BUY all day long if you have the kit lens. do it!

Have this lens and honestly blown away by image quality anytime I use it. Downgraded from a7riii and 85mm 1.8 to a6500 and this 30mm. For my use case (fam/dog pics/travel), I barely notice a drop-off and the file sizes are much more manageable

No. The DC or DG indicates crop or full frame. "Art" is just the quality. There is Contemporary, Art, Sports
