It's almost identical to the Hyper 212 Black Edition in design and mounting mechanisms, but this one has 5 copper heatpipes vs 4 on the Hyper 212 BE.

I watched that same review the other day and figured it'll be the cooler I use for the young uns gaming rigs I'll be putting together.

Thank you for the advice. I will OC if I get a good cooler when the price drops. I definitely won't OC with this cooler.

right now, you can build a 10400 stock cooler 150 bucks+ cheap mobo at around 80 bucks get some cheap 16 gb 3000-3200 ram, get a nice AMD card on the cheap and build something nice with some of the case psu deals on slick on the cheap.

I built 2 for my kids over the last 2 weeks with some salvaged parts from the old computers I had 6600k and the 4770 with a 1070 and 1060 ti in them, so it was a nice quick upgrade for them. I did need to get new ram since the 4770 was on a ddr3 board.

Not really. it won't be able to compete with higher end air coolers like dh15. At lower tdp loads it beats hyper 212, because of the stock fan which seems to be an impressive one.

I mean, I didnt mean $100 coolers like the DH15. The DH15 beats like everything in thermals, and it also has lots of case and ram clearance issues.

So for those who refuse to go to AIO water coolers or don't want to go to custom loops, air is literally all they have. That being said, I think if you spent the 400 -500 doollars on your i9, you might as well spent another hundred on a great air cooler, why skimp?

Also, those of you who buy 120 AIO's are probably neck and neck with a good air cooler, so why buy a 120 AIO unless you have a space issue. Should go at least 240+.

I never had issues with an AIO in my previous build, but I went with air cooling this time anyway. I wanted a blacked out system with minimal RGB and a higher air flow case. I'm using a Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 and it is working great for me. It is nice to not have to worry about anything but dust maintenance with the cooler. Not that everyone needs to get an air cooler that big, but I wanted to have OC room for the future.

True true, I have a few friends who really got burned, so they stick to air. Couldn't get warranty to pay etc. Consumer error / didn't follow directions or something other crap that disqualified. Well not a few, I have 2 friends that won't go back to water cooling ever. Very expensive rigs, granted it was probably user error, lol.

The hyper 212 clones are best suited for 75-125w loads. Meaning 6 or 8 core with moderate oc.
I have the ID Cooling and the Vetroo V5. In my initial tests, the ID Cooling runs about 4 degrees C cooler than the Vetroo installed on a Ryzen 3600. Also between the two, I found the ID Cooling unit to be easier to install on AMD, though the Vetroo is not bad particularly difficult.
