Same here! A little excited as it's my first gaming PC. Always been a console gamer.
For your orders that shipped, any updates from ups or fedex?

Mine said label created Monday night but no updates since, so I'm just curious.

When was it picked up? did fedex not update earlier or was it just picked up? Mine still says label created, so if they pick it up tonight, I doubt I get it Friday

Thanks. Mine finally arrived at Fort Worth earlier this morning. Now, it is expected to arrive by end of day Saturday.

Same with the odd tracking. I expected a left destination or something, but it looks like it is on the way and Fort Worth was my first scan (on the way to Florida)

Ordered on the 25th, Shipped on the 1st, Delivered just a few minutes ago. Have not powered it up yet, only popped the case to see the insides. Here are my impressions:
  1. Fan is waaay undersized and there is only one, so that is first thing that needs to be corrected. There is only one case fan plug and one cpu fan plug so if you want ot add more than one case fan you will need a splitter.
  2. CPU cooler looks pathetic also. Saw some reviews of the unit on YT and people said it will run hot if you keep the stock cooler, so that is second thing to upgrade.
  3. The NVMe card is 2230 format but it does have space to allow a full size NVMe card.
  4. There is space and cabling for one full sized 3.5 drive and two 2.5 drives.
  5. There are 4 ram slots and yippiee, they actually used dual channel for the 16gb ram and not a single stick. Sticks were Micron 8gb DDR4 3200 part number MTA4ATF1G64AZ-3G2E1
  6. Power supply is 360W 80+ Bronze. I saw some reviews saying it was a 80+platinum but mine as shipped was only bronze.
  7. There is an open PCIe x1 slot and a PCIe x4 open on the motherboard, however the PCIe x4 looks like it is crowded out by the GPU card.
  8. Lastly the GPU only has a single fan. Even more reason to beef up case cooling fan.
I will update this post after I have booted the system up tonight and removed all the bloatware and run a few test on it before putting in upgrades.

I got this machine for WFH activities, so I have no need for the video card that comes with it, however, I tried two of my old video cards, Nvidia Quadro FX3800 and Dell ATI FireMv 2260, neither card POST, with 3 Amber and 2 White LED lights (PCI/video subsystem failure). Do I need to use some specific GPU with this kind of system?

I'm going through the same exact thing right now. A gt220 would not work at all but a gt210 and gt240 boots to Windows but I cannot get into the bios or see the Dell logo during boot up. Even after Windows boots I have the same flashing led pattern on the front. This video card also does not use the power directly from the PSU. Do yours by chance? I'm wondering is that is the cause of the flashing LEDs on the front panel.

My Quadro FX3800 has a 6-pin connector, but it does not work with the power from PSU or not; The ATI does not have a fan, only a heatsink. Either card is fine with another older Dell machine, so I am not sure if this Dell G5 5000 somehow locked out of the video cards. According to the service manual (https://dl.dell.com/topicspdf/g-s..._en-us.pdf), page 17, it states:

The following table lists the specifications of the discrete Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) supported by your G5 5000, I don't know if this implies only the listed GPU is supported.

I saw that list but I'm wondering if these are the Dell options that you can get. I was reading that Dell might make (or have made) their own versions of these cards that require less power. I also read that the power pinouts might be different that to go to the video card. It's been a while since I've been down this road with PCs so I may have misread something. But if this is the case, I'm wondering how when people are buying these cards form ebay if they aren't going to work in their existing system due to the pinout.

I'm getting the feeling that this purchase was a mistake if you planned on selling the card.

Well, I sold the video card, and after all the fees and troubles, the parts along still worth it so I am not complaining, but I am confused as to why and how Dell somehow "lockout" the video cards not on the list. Is this how Dell come up with against people like me, took advantage of the GPU price craze? Well if this is true, then Dell failed.

However, I still want to find out what GPU not on the list will work though, or if the BIOS needs to be somehow reset, I am just not yet convinced that this is the case. It has been a while since I work on the PC parts, so I am going into this rabbit hole and explore more.

For what's worth, I called Dell Support, and the first-line support lady read it from the User Guide that indeed, that ONLY the 8 GPU listed are supported by this system. I asked her the question five times (yes, 5 times), to make sure I am not hearing it wrong, she repeated the answer 5 times. I thanked her and hang up.
