At $89.99 that would put it at around $18 per TB. Still not as good as sale priced larger capacity external 3.5 USB desktop drives. but better than the $20 to $21 or so of the typical sale priced WD portable; Easystore, My Passport and Element drives. Will be interesting to see what others say about this particular drive considering the number of folks around these parts who dislike (or hate) Seagate drives in general.

Edit to add: Past posts in earlier deal discussions, like this post, indicate the drive (at least in the past) was shuckable. Some, like this post, likewise claim this drive is SMR which may account for the horrible speeds some claim they have.

I bought this drive on sale for $65 about 2 years ago(it was the last item on shelf) I shucked it (it is thicker than usual 2.5" drive) and put it in my pc. No issues with it.

If your other drive was a 2.5" drive, this will fit also. No difference in size because of larger storage.

No, it will not fit any internal bay. This is a 13mm thick 2.5 drive.

Thanks for this. I did some poking around and looks like the maximum thickness for the PS4 hard drive bay is 9.5mm, so you are correct, this will not fit.

This. I don't believe it's even possible to store ANYTHING but PS4 Games on an external drive connected to a PS5 (at the moment at least). Future firmware could change that.

Also noteworthy, though: there have been TONS of people having repetitive PS5 crashes due to an external drive simply being connected. It's well documented if you browse the web. Sony claimed to be well aware of the issue, and said a firmware update will resolve said issues, but it's now March and I don't think anything has yet been done to correct it.

It depends on what you want to do with it. The speed is only a fraction of your internal drive, but it has a lot more storage space. Tradeoffs.

For Time Machine backups, general file storage, it's good. I use one that I partition for Time Machine and general storage. For video editing, I use an external 1TB SSD (or internal drive for quick small projects), then put my finished projects/libraries on an external HDD like this one.
